If a blood sport became legal, would you have anything to do with it?

I don't even think regular sports are particularly moral or righteous so I wouldn't have anything to do with this kind either.
Peculiar. Why not? Do you find them immoral? Like golf or baseball?

OT: Probably, I think alot of people would oppose it quite harshly, but you have to admit it would have one hell of a following. Maybe it would be good for us to introduce a little gladiatoral spectacles back into our lives. It would toughen us up as a species and make us realize that the shit we make a big deal out of now is quite trivial. I always believed that people that lived in times where these things took place had something we have lost over the ages.

If a blood sport like Gamer became legal, Hell, I'd participate in it! (As the gamer not the convict being manipulated).

Does the UFC count? If so, then yes. Then again, I'm also a fan of "hardcore wrestling" or backyard wrestling (this is from the 90's, ask me for an example because I don't want to annoy a mod by advertising).

On the topic of those movie sports...I don't know. I'd check it out but don't know if I'd be a fan. Most prisoners (at least in the US) have it rather easy. I mean, they don't work. They just relax in their cell, exercise, and watch tv. Might as well put them to work instead of living off of our tax dollars. I know, that's controversial but that's my logic.

Rather to give everyone a fair chance, you can only use melee weapons. There are deathmatches, Capture the Flag, and Juggernaut matches.

Yes, however it would only prove how degraded we've become (which I think UFC is edging towards). Although we haven't evolved enough to outgrow our barbaric animalistic instincts, I think we should at least try to better ourselves by not dreaming of such primitive urges.
But I would probably still watch because I know I'm demented.

A poll would've been better btw

Like the sports in the movies? Absolutely Fucking not. they're idiotic and modern combat is almost enirely reliant on luck. However, if it was hand to hand combat with mideval style weapons, i would train and then participate, because I am bored as fuck, and that shit would be fun.

I know, huh? I find it a bit depressing that a good majority is saying not only will they accept it, it would be like the "MOST EPIK TING EVAAAAA"

Also, poll coming right up.

Edit: Sorry, no can do. It won't let me edit.

Depends on the circumstances. If it's murderers with the choice of fighting to the death or doing a really long prison sentance, then I'll just ignore it. If it's criminals in general (even ones caught for fraud etc.) forced to do it then I'd probably protest it in a fairly passive agressive way. If it's civillians forced to do it, then I'm leading a crusade to stop it.

How is it set up? Two people just stabbing each other? Maybe.

But if there's teams, and massive shootouts, then hell yeah! But the death row sentence would have to be a lot broader to have enough people to participate...

Depends on how the games are played. If the people who play it have a choice in the matter (it's a get out of jail free card like Gamer, you get a bunch of money for winning, you (or your family) don't have to pay off the ridiculous debt you owe) then I'd watch it and enjoy it.

On the other hand it involved random people plucked off the street, then I'd be one of the people protesting it. "Hell no! Ban this show!" and such.

I would watch it if the WBC was in it..fighting each other to the death..with snipers to give the victor their prize..a one way ticket to hell.

I would make my own! It would be kind of like "Estate of Panic" where you have to go through these trials of closing in walls or navigate a maze with swarms of bees. Big money for bets on that kind of stuff. Hell I might just buy an island and reenact Battle Royal with some teenagers!

This scares me... Is the spirit of competition or the pitting of wits not enough?!?!
Without blood and death? No not really. Watching a bunch of grown men running around on a field chasing a ball just doesn't have enough drama to it to be interesting.

I mean which scenes contain the most suspense? A general soccer match or the battlefield scenes in Braveheart?

If you put two tv-screens next to eachother I know my eyes would be drawn towards the one playing Braveheart than the silly men chasing a ball on a grassy field.

Same. The internet has hardened me a bit, so I could take it seeing people killed on tv, even if it was real. But with swearing getting censored on tv, I dont think we could watch uncensored, real time killing anytime soon.

I know that saying so will make me the worst kind of Bourgeoisie, but I would enjoy watching something like that immensely. I mean, why? Is it just testosterone, or am I just mentally unstable? All I know is watching a high-speed gladiator fight on foot or bikes or running through a trap maze or something would be the most fun I could ever have.

Really, if your watching real people fighting to the death, I don't think there is a point in censoring anything. You know what your watching, so it just makes it stupid.

If a sport similar to the sports in the movies Death Race, Gamer, The running Man, etc. became a legalized sport, would you watch it? If not, would you protest it or just simply ignore it?

The people used in the sport are people in death row, like in most movies.

The only good I can see this doing is so people will think twice about doing sick shit like this, but no, I don't think something like this would be a good idea. there's a big difference in the feeling of someone being killed in a movie, and someone seriously being killed in real life.
Oh I thought you meant about joining... I might hunt the urban foxes around London (they give us trouble to no end), otherwise I'd probably just ignore it.

Give it a few years, and we might end up with hyper-realistic televised compooter-gayems.

Plus, you won't lose your favourite competitor if they catch a bullet in the cranium.

But hypothetically... Yeah, I'll see if I can make money off it.
