I once did not have even a console for 3 weeks..
the results were to hideous to discuss here, in the comfort of the Escapist support group.

I am grateful for gaming for peace and stability and a rocking twitch reflex with a shottie.. when the freaking apocolypse comes this will be a valuable life skill.

A void of time, once created through abstinence of one activity, tends to be filled with something else.

I'd probably spend this time watching TV and movies. You know, like millions of people were already doing just 30 years ago before games were invented?

This is assuming some other time-wasting technology didn't emerge instead of games.

When my laptop broke, and I wanted to wait until the Christmas period to repair it, I substituted gaming for watching TV. For some reason I feel as though I've accomplished something by the end of the day if I've been gaming... but TV just made me think that I'd wasted a day.

I would probably have become depressed by this cycle. Despite my every best intention to go running/cycling or whatever I probably wouldn't.

Video games were actually the center of my social life back in those halcyon days of childhood, so I would ironically have fewer friends.

I'd read more books certainly. I'd probably watch more movies as well. And, I'd probably dedicate even more time to Fencing - which remains my only socially acceptable hobby.

There was a time though when gaming represented a big part of my life, almost to the point that it was a corner stone of my existance. I don't know if losing that deep love of video games is part of the process of "growing up" or not; maybe games just got worse as I got older.

I would be extremely bored, and probably get homework done quicker.
Oh wait, the internet would still exist. Nevermind.

I'd be more social
My boyfriend and I would sit in complete silence most of the time

But it wouldn't bother me, because I wouldn't know what video games are, if that makes sense.

If gaming didn't exists, then I would be a famous writer and solve the causes for global warming, cancer and AIDS.
As it stands, I'm a gamer.

Life without Gordon Freeman, GLADOS, Rapture... if this evil alternate dimension where there were no video games existed i'd never have visited silent hill or the mushroom kingdom. I don't know what i'd do. i'd have to choose a different career path first. Get through puberty in a more difficult way. Oh well, luckily we'll never have to find out how hellish our existance would be if there were no video games.

I think kids would have lives again. I mean seriously, when's the last time you drove down a neighborhood street and saw kids out playing? Maybe five years ago, but not anymore. Everything has to be arranged if you ever want to meet up with someone, there's no spontaneous encounters.

I'd be more alone.
I'd be more of a *****.
Less mature, more ignorant.
Read a lot more.
Play Piano a lot more.
Spend a lot more time listening to music.
Become depressed at the amount of TV I watch.

Wouldn't 2 more than offset 1? Depends what you read I suppose. Also I don't see how not playing games could make you more ignorant? Unless you take your history lessons from Total War.
