Haven't you learned from the previous Episodes? Valve won't put in anything new gameplay-wise. It's because it's still Half Life 2.
Which is why it needs to be Half Life 3 with a new engine.

Making the crowbar useful would be a good start.
Hey! The crowbar may not be useful against larger enemies, but it can kill any type of headcrab in one hit. I'd say that's somewhat useful.

Then it wouldn't be episdoe 3 anymore, Valve would need to release a full size game, and they would need to come up with new ideas. That doesn't seem like something Valve would do.

Did we play the same games? There wasn't anything new.
There was nothing BLATANTLY new, I'll agree to that. However, it's impossible to ignore the improvements and minor alterations to the gameplay that ended up working out well.

A few examples:
- Alyx in Episode 1 and her improved fighting
- Stopping Antlions by plugging their holes
- Acid antlions
- Hunters
- The Magnusson device
- Higher emphasis on cooperative gameplay for both episodes (Alyx, Vortigaunts and Resistance).

Give me time, and I can think of more. None of those DRASTICALLY changed the game, but I maintain that they were, in fact, important and beneficial changes. And they were DEFINITELY new.

At this point, I'd like to see them release Halo 3's single player campaign as Episode 3. Like, literally, cut and paste. No explanation, no reasoning, it's just... Suddenly, Halo 3. And that's how Half-Life 2 ends.

I think the Internet might actually break in half.

I think we got different versions of Alyx as well. The one in my game insisted on using a pistol for everything, only ever fired about 3 shots per fight and enjoyed spending time running in front of me. The Magnusson device was most certainly not beneficial. That thing was annoying and pointless. Why do I need to waste time with the stupid things when rockets have worked perfectly well the rest of the game? None of the other ones make any real difference, except fighting with Vortigaunts because they 1 hit everything.

Father gred would come back with an army of headcrab zombies which he'll refer to as "the congregation" and with their help you invade the combine homeworld. Meanwhile, Alex gets pregnant... With Bernie's child! Then Chell comes and joins the game as your new love interest (with hints to a dark past [the murder of the companion cube])... It'll be pretty awesome.

-Cover based combat with ess emm gees.
-Freeman will be replaced with a large marine with biceps the size of his head.
-Alyx will find a way to always be wearing a bikini and her dialogue will be entirely double entendre.
-The G-Man will be a CIA sleeper agent and will join the new Freeman as they battle the advisor in a climactic boss fight.
-The Final boss will only be able to be killed by the American Army who fly in at the last minute.
-Graphics will become photo-realistic and the Source engine will be replaced with the Unreal engine.
-Level design will be handled by Activision.
-Barney will die
-Headcrabs will be replaced with attack dogs for better realism.
-The crowbar will be replaced with a knife, as it suits the character better.
-Eli will be found partially alive at the end fight, pumped up with steroid enhanced biceps and will blow himself up to save Freeman at some point during the fight.
-The HEV suit will be replaced with a bullet proof vest.
-Med kits will be replaced with regenerating health.
you do realize that Duke Nukem Forever is getting released right?

well thats silly since everyone knows they would sway towards a more pc oriented company like crytek when it comes to things like these.

And besides the unreal engine is uber ugly when compared to the cryengine

If it was made, what old or new things should be put into it story wise or game wise.

I want Father Greggory back :(
Regenerating health, characters that swear alot more, an easier to follow "dumbed down" plot, levels that all look the same and play the same, immense violence, nearly unlimited ammo, scripted cutscenes (none of this immersive first person bs), decapitations, limbs flying off, etc. Aslo a melee system where you don't have to switch weapons all the time, it's annoying and unrealistic.
That would be awesome!
