So cause its not based in Earth it makes it more realistic? Cause neither is Star Wars and last time I saw the premise "In a Galaxy far far away and a long time ago...". Its set in a galaxy far away that might not be ours and which Humans and Aliens exist togheter and some have phsycic powers? The same thing happens in Killzone 2 which is set in a harsh Alien(yes Alien! Cause if I remenber well the Helghast were kicked out of somewhere to that planet where they had to learn to survive.) world with acidic air, dust clouds, and violent surgical lightning storms.Mazty said:Band of Brothers is a colaberation of true stories, a historical re-enactment of past events.oliveira8 said:You said that a story involving Space wars is realistic.Mazty said:Show how I'm a fanboy and abandon logic for irrational reasoning then. You can't reason with fanboys, just make them look like the morons they are then ignore them when they throw a hissy fit like a 2 year old who's mom wont buy them a candy bar.
Band of Brothers is realistic cause its based in real facts.
Killzone is a Sci-Fi story which brings inspirations from colonial Wars and WW2, but in space. Is space wars real these days? Dont call it realistic call it a good Sci-Fi story. Which what it is a Science fiction story cause its fiction based on current or future speculations of technology and science.
According to science fiction writer Robert A. Heinlein, "a handy short definition of almost all science fiction might read: realistic speculation about possible future events, based solidly on adequate knowledge of the real world, past and present, and on a thorough understanding of the nature and significance of the scientific method."
Killzone doesn't have any whacky magic or nonsense in it. Guns. Bullets. Lots of bodies. Seems to be realisitic speculation, and considering it's not based on Earth, seems about right. Because of that Killzone 2 is realisitc, but not reality. Two distinct things.
Okay unrealistic cause you have spaceships capable of interstellar travel, orbital bombardements, like you said the planet mutated the Helgan yet does nothing for the ISA troops that "judging from what I briefly played" no helmets and no proper combat gear for that region. Hell and people say the USA lost Vietnam cause they the US troops were badly prepared and the US thought that the Vietcong army would opose little resistence...I guess those ISA dudes are masters in the art of War cause they lauch their troops into a planet unprepared for the planet itself.Mazty said:Physic powers = unrealisticoliveira8 said:So cause its not based in Earth it makes it more realistic? Also if my memory serves correct the game starts with you being dropped from way above cloud level or at cloud level with no pressure capsules and being totally okay. no shortness of breath no nothing...realistic!
The Helghast were human, but the environment mutated them/they adapted to it, hence the masks etc. Hardly unrealistic. What would be unrealistic is expecting humans on another planet to stay exaclty the same as their origin planet.
Depends how high cloud level is, could be fine.
COuld you actually state why Killzone 2 is unrealistic. At the momement you're saying it's unrealistic because it's set in the future. That means if I write a story about events in a years time they immediatly are unrealistic. So how is K2 unrealistic?
First off, why am I supposed to keep in mind it sold so well? That suggests that getting a game because a million other people have makes you "cool", which a lot of people do sadly.Breno said:it seem people hate halo 3 just cause people with it always go on about how good it is i myself dont have a 360 but i love it and i would buy it if it came to ps3 would u?
me i would buy because of the theathar mode and forge which i just love being able to watch how u died or killed from any angle!
ofcourse there no chance of it happing
please keep in mind halo 3 made $1.2bil which no other game has done this generation (maybe even last generation) and is still the most played game on xbox live
How do you know we wont be able to move tea cups with our minds. The human brain only uses a very small part of its potencial.Mazty said:Interstella travel, about the distance from Earth to Mars is not unrealisitic. I should clarify that Killzone 2 is a realisitc Sci-Fi FPS as it takes the state of technology today and progresses it by a few hundred years, maybe less, without any whacky catalyst for antyhing (think Spice from the Dune series).oliveira8 said:Okay unrealistic cause you have spaceships capable of interstellar travel, orbital bombardements, like you said the planet mutated the Helgan yet does nothing for the ISA troops that "judging from what I briefly played" no helmets and no proper combat gear for that region. And I can say Psychic powers may one day come true, depending on how we evolve the same way you can say the human race one day will have the ability to colonize space, and achieve interstellar travel.
And realistic derives from the word realism which means "concern for fact or reality and rejection of the impractical and visionary" acording to my Portuguse-English dictionary. Theres is a thing called Scientific realism that implies that someday some theorys we make(like Ligh Speed and space colonization.) may become true. Till then they are impractical and visionary.
The same goes for SW aliens and jedi powers.
There is much more evidence that we will be able to fight planetary wars rather then move tea cups with our minds.
Granted the ISA don't have Helghan masks, but that's down to the changes having taken generations, and not immediate, so it can be pressumed the atmosphere only posses a long term threat.
