What the hell? They're completely different games! You can't compare 'em!

Pick a different game to compare to it!
They're both shooters? I dunno.
Yes, but that's like saying Risk is the same as Monopoly because both take place on a board. The way to experience and play the two is completely different.

But still, I highly recommend Half Life 2 and it's Episodes because of how good they are. While you won't get the depth of roleplaying or the length that you would from Mass Effect, you get one hell of an atmospheric game with one of the best stories I've had the pleassure of enjoying. It's a great series, that I could probably write paragraphs on explaining why it is so amazing. Instead though, I am going to boot up my copy of HL2 EP2, and go play that because I am now in the mood.

Good day to you sir!

you damn well better like Half Life 2!!!
I've noticed this about Half-Life fans, of all the fanbases, they, more than any, can't stand if someone didn't like the series. I don't understand why.

Yes, if you haven't played Half-Life 2 yet, then I dare say you are not a gamer!
Why it's just like playing any other FPS, except every now and then you have to drive the worst car ever.
No dear sir I dare say it is not. You cannot argue that Half Life 2 isn't one of the greatest games ever created, and has influenced the industry ever since its release. This game is surely on any video gamer buffs top ten list, just as Citizen Kane or Casablanca would be on the top ten list of a film buff.
Well then would this be a bad time to say I can't find a what is so great about that game besides the grav gun, and even that was useless until the end. I fail to see why that game has such a huge following except for the fact that Valve made it, I'm not saying it's bad, just mediocre. And Citizen Kane was also incredibly boring.
You just lost all credibility when you called Citizen Kane boring.

How dare you call Citizen Kane boring! As soon as we invent the means to punch people over the internet, you're going to be my first target.

OT: Everyone should play those games, even if only to try.
