If I liked Star Wars, would I like Aliens? Maybe. But the point is, don't compare an RPG to an FPS, two things that are completely different.blalien said:I like shooters with real intellectual depth behind them, like Mass Effect or Metroid Prime, but tend not to like the hardcore stuff like Call of Duty or Halo. Would the Half-Life Complete pack from Steam be worth it for me?

I, like you, don't like the majority of shooters, but I LOVE the Half-Life series. Half-Life 2 especially is easily one of the ten best games ever made. I would say get it; it appeals even to people who don't like shooters.blalien said:I like shooters with real intellectual depth behind them, like Mass Effect or Metroid Prime, but tend not to like the hardcore stuff like Call of Duty or Halo. It was a joke, I did that so people would be skeptical of its validity and think I was an illiterate fan-boy, and then they would read the first two spoilers seething with a growing rage and loathing until the third spoiler took them off guard resulting in many 'lols'. Did it work?Aylaine said:My point is, how can you copy something that doesn't exist yet? HL2 came out before MA did, so I don't see how it copied it. Unless you meant something else by copy.feather240 said:Did no one read the spoiler tags? HL2s romance subplots copy MAs exactly.Aylaine said:Half Life is very, very different from MA. You would have to play it to see what I mean. You really can't compare them.

According to Wikipedia:
Now Half Life 2, by contrast:Mass Effect is an action role-playing game developed by BioWare for the Xbox 360 and then ported to Microsoft Windows by Demiurge Studios. The Xbox 360 version was released worldwide in November 2007 published by Microsoft Game Studios. The Windows version was released on May 28, 2008, published by Electronic Arts.[11]
Action WRPGs =/= Sci fi FPS games. Their both sci fi, and involve shooting, but I believe that's where the comparisons would stop. That is why, for me, I can't compare them because they aren't the same genre of video game.Half-Life 2 is a science fiction first-person shooter computer game and the sequel to the highly acclaimed Half-Life. It was developed by Valve Corporation and was released on November 16, 2004![]()
Some of us like neither.blazer516 said:better question, if you dont like half life, then why do you bother trying to stand out among the slobbering masses of call of duty fanboys

Mass Effect is a bad choice for comparison with Half-life, because they're styled completely differently and don't play similar in the slightest. Me, I have a wide range of tastes and interests and can enjoy games of all sorts. I tend not to like FPS games, but I found Half-Life to be a really fun game, so regardless of what your other tastes are, I'd recommend trying it.blalien said:I like shooters with real intellectual depth behind them, like Mass Effect or Metroid Prime, but tend not to like the hardcore stuff like Call of Duty or Halo.
