1.Build a huge hilltop fort around my house, I already have a great lookout point because of my position.
2.Collect supplies, guns, ammo etc.
4.Prepare for the worst. Something has killed everyone off, who's to say it's not zombies or aliens? Get the guns.

wait, if they managed to kill off 95% of the human race without a sound, how will a wooden wall and a few air pistols help?
or even if you get something bigger?
Take to the skies! if it's aliens, you're screwed anyway, and if it's zombies, they cannot reach you!

Depends what you mean by silent. If you mean "no people alive to broadcast the news" then being prepared will help. If it's hordes of slow zombies that have just prevented the news from spreading then I'm in the middle of nowhere, so less zombies anyway, and they're detectable, just I haven't been able to find out. If you mean that they literally wiped everyone out without being detected then at least I didn't spend my last moments cowering in a room

I'd burn my family to stop the spread of other diseases (and pay my last respects to them, I suppose), gather up loads of supplies like water, food, drink, clothes, feed the pets, wallow in misery and deppression for a few days, then leave the house to see if I can find any other survivors (I'm assuming that all the power is gone and Mobile phones don't have any reception). First, I'd try the houses near mine, then I'd leave to search for my friends and family. After that I'd either group with other survivors and try to help out in any way I could or, If I can't find any survivors, head to the city and take as many comics and books as a stolen troley could carry and walk the dogs.

First thing id do is try to contact my friends to see if they survived. Then i'd go out and gather suplies from the local shops. Once ive secured suplies id search for survivors and plan the future.

Depends on what the authorities do.
I'd probably help them keep order. We'd need militia against forming raiding gangs, volunteers for humanitarian services and medical tasks, workers to re-establish electricity/water...
There'd be plenty to do for everybody!
