I'm not going to tell the last 2, since they are less obvious. I believe that all the zombie threads are being made by someone possesing the zombie virus, developing it to fight against our zombie plans we tell in the forums.
Yes! intelligent life!

id take the biggest knife I have, phone, and a bike to cycle around and loot houses for more knive/guns/food etc.

This thread inspired me to think. I think the original theory there is flawed, but the guy has got the basic idea. Thanks to him, I might have a chance of survival in case of Z-Day
whereabouts do you live? we could be apocalypse survivor buddies!
... I'm only giving country since you might be one of them. Finland.
damn, almost no chance of meeting up then, i live in England

Probably already done before, but screw it, let's do this.

1) My lover. I don't care if we're not enough to repopulate the earth, I just want to be with her until the end.

2) My AKMs. Semi-automatic fire, open-top sights, very, very large ammo capacity with a heavy round that can pierce armor and cause serious tissue damage. Also has polymer furniture and an underfolding skeleton stock for very light weight and close-quarter maneuverability. Not to mention its extremely low maintenance requirements: all it takes to clean the bore is some gasoline and a knotted-up shoelace, and the only thing that can make it jam is very poor-quality ammunition.

3) Extra ammunition. Self explanatory. Preferably of Russian or Ukranian manufacture.

4) Thermal NVGs. Nighttime navigation can be a very dangerous thing, especially if your hearing has been dulled by a long day of gunfire. Also, I wouldn't want to use a flashlight, as that could attract hostiles.

5) Lots and lots of water, possibly loaded on a horse or pack mule. Food can be scavenged along the way, but clean water will become harder and harder to come by, and water is not optional.

i've just found out that my job protects me in the event of a zombie apocalypse.

if i were to lose it though, i would go with:

-4 layers of clothing, all worn at once
-a blowtorch and some aerosol cans
-some food rations
-some bleach

my reasoning is thus. i know of an area that zombies will not be able to get at, and most likely wont know about anyway. however, it is very cold, so i need a lot of clothes for it. the blowtorch and aerosol cans are an improvised flamethrower in case i am found. and the bleach... well, currently the place i would go to is horribly unclean.

2. Enough ammo for about an hour maybe.
3. Enough cheese to kill a horse (im sure you could find a way to kill a horse with cheese)
4. Some form of heavy wacking impliment that isn't that heavy...
5. A trowel because that was the last thing i could think of.

I reckon I'd fare quite well in the zombie apocolypse (unlike some of the depressing individuals who say 'I'd probably be dead already', if you think staying alive is too much effort then I'd be suprised if you survive any moderately dangerous encounter of any description).

Anyways, my selection would be:

1- Reinforced/armoured clothing (leather jacket with metal plates inserted or flak jacket, trousers with armoured thighs and shins, fingerless gloves, sturdy boots and maybe a motorcycle helmet and balaclava).
2- Machete/sword/axe/chainsaw (any will do).
3- Shotgun and crossbow with extra ammo for both (the shotgun for hectic encounters where I can throw subtlety to the wind and the crossbow for traveling and when I don't want to bring attention to myself).
4- Large first aid kit (as comprehensive as I can get).
5- Backpacks, webbing, pouches, containers of various descriptions. I would give myself as great a carrying capacity as I could (a lot of the stuff you would need would be out there already, it's just a matter of finding and carrying it).

Oh a zombie apocalypse...
Then I'd take:
  • The Zombie Survival Guide
    Clothes
    Medkit
    Tinned food
    Camping Gear

Then I'd go find my friends.

1: iPod
2: Laptop
3: Guns
4: Ammo
5: Lots of water

I cannot live without music. I cannot live without a computer. I need water. I'm also a damn good shot, so I'll need guns and ammo. That will last me until I get to the mall where I will board up all the windows and just live there. I'll start a new civilization.

Also... is it bad that I get really excited when I think about the apocalypse? I really want it to happen.

Seeing as this is the zombie apocalypse you're talking about, weapons would be critical, so I'd bring A pump action shotgun, a small assault rifle like an M4, an axe or machete, medical supplies including tons of compression bandages, IVs, matches etc. and a vehicle of some kind plus fuel. Food, water and other materials would be picked up/hunted along the way. I thought about something low tech and light as a vehicle like a bike, but you can't exactly armour plate a bike...

(edit) Not that I uh, HAVE any of these things just laying around the house or anything...

I'd have to leave the Modern Warfare 2 night vision goggles behind, though.

Seeing as how I live in SE Alaska, I'm afforded a few inherent terrain advantages.

So working with that, if I had to go absolutely right now:
AK-47
XDM 9mm
Bug out bag
Kukri
Fishing Pole

But, if I could magically have any rifle, it'd be something semi-automatic in .308, maybe a polymer/stainless m1a.

not sure how well that was thought through. if it is an apocalypse then you have no method of charging either your laptop or your ipod.

are you sure you want the apocalypse so much now?
