Now I think of it, a normal zombie attack would be unlikely, but think of 28 Days Later/Left 4 Dead style "Infected" invasion. Rabies already gives you a start; aggression, crazyness. So just imagine if a mutated or altered super-rabies escapes out of a lab (much like the Rage virus from 28 Days Later). O dear o dear...

Probably a new strain of Ebola, one that intially attacks the frontal lobe and hypothalamus. I would assume that the infected wouldn't completely crash though, so it would only target the brain, instead of all the bodies tissues.

although rabies already does a similar thing, the people effected with rabies become hyper violent, with out the total body degeneration of ebola. people in the late stages of rabies are essentially zombies of the Left 4 Dead variety where they may tear your nipples off at a moment notice. ebola would cause the open sores and corpse like apearence. only thing is in both instances of ebola and rabies the "zombie" is still a living breathing human who may eventually recover from the illness (not bloodly likley Ebola Zaire has a 90% mortality rate).
