THOSE DANG COUGARS!!!!!

Anyone else agree?

I was reminded of them because of the second season of 24, for a brief moment they mentioned Cougars and so it reminded me of the RDR ones...

Cougars never really bothered me until that hunting mission where you had to punch two in the face with your knife. In fact, I rarely see them which probably explains why they're not that bad.

Bears bothered me more. There was never just one bear, and they were very protective of their flowers for some reason. I got the bearly legal trophy without even trying.

Wolves though. They were fucking everywhere. I hated the damn things. I've had them kill quest NPCs out of nowhere.

They didn't annoy me as much as the frickin' bears..I swear, those things were like ninjas! One moment I'd pause (While mounted) to tilt the camera and admire a vista..then WHAM! My horse would whinny and topple over and lo and behold, a bear!

What bothered me the most was attempting to find the damn animals when I had their hunting challenge. I ran around in the areas where they were supposed to be and could barely find any. Still, finished the hunting and all that stuff.

I remember my first encounter with cougars. I was riding my horse, and it got killed and I thought "what the hell is this. It's probably just a bug, and it'll be really easy to kill." I tried to excavate it's skull, and ended up being raped while trying to aim.

Oh man. That Kentucky Saddler (white horse) you tame early in the game with Bonnie? I kept that horse forever and felt attached to it. Then I'm just riding around and a cougar insta-kills it and runs off. It didn't even have the decency to fight me. That bastard cougar just killed my horse and fled.

I was legitimately sad and just stood there looking at it. It was emotional.

I was annoyed at the dichotomy in story/agency. In other words being forced to be a moral family man despite murdering countless people and the game actually rewarding you for tying people to train tracks.

Cougars just be doing their cougaring, but at least they're not making your input to the character meaningless.

I lost that horse to an ambush. It took about a million bullets to the chest, but didn't go down. So I hopped off, dealt with the bandits, went to get back on, and it just went *fwump*.

It was insanely hilarious and horribly sad at the same time. Me and that horse had been places.

OT: The actual thing that annoyed me most about RDR was the treasure maps. It took me two hours to find the first treasure, I breezed through the next five, got stuck on the sixth, gave up and hit the wiki. All in all, very unsatisfying.

I didn't mind the Cougars or Bears, they kept you on your toes and added an element of danger, plus they were humbling... no matter how much of a badass you felt like, you weren't necessarily the most dangerous creature in the forest.

The Wolves however, those guys are dicks, chasing after you in a pack, barking and yapping and generally being annoying.

My attitude towards Cougar and Bear attacks is the same as getting splattered by a speeding car in GTA. Yes it's a slight setback, but it's also hilarious and awesome.

You know, I never really had any real problems with cougars/bears while playing RDR. I never bought the game, and only played it when my brother borrowed it from a friend months after it came out, and in those months all I heard about the game, other than how great it is, is how you get blindsided every five minutes by a cougar. So naturally when I did play it, I was super paranoid about getting mauled every time I went out into the wilderness, but it never really happened.

I don't know, it could be because of how paranoid I was that I didn't get destroyed by wild animals, but with all that I heard about it, I figured it was unavoidable.

I bought Red Dead Redemption yesterday, it should arrive in the post by next Wednesday, but now I'm scared! Are cougars really that big an issue?

I think their threat is greatly exaggerated for comedic effect. I've only run into 2 cougars in my 3 playthroughs of the game.

Hmm, none of that bothered me as I mostly played online (and this was when it just came out too) with 2 of my buddies. We were DESTROYING huge anyone that approached us... we got into a fight with these 2 guys in particular who just didnt stop attacking us despite the fact that we owned them constantly.

Eventually my buddies left and I got on my horse to go do something else... but guess what? Those 2 morons who kept on fighting and getting owned decided they would mark me (having left the fight by this time and there were literally no people fighting by the time my friends left the game) and wait until they could just attack me constantly. They chased me for AGES and never stopped chasing (I didnt kow they were after me) so when I stopped these 2 mooks caught up and just kept killing me and thought they were good... pretty annoying and proved they were douche bag pussies who cant handle getting pwned. We pwned a lot of people but these 2 guys were the only ones who got butthurt over it and cried until they got "revenge" by ganking me.

THATS the only thing that annoyed me about the game... However the single player did bore me.

Cougars get annoying when they attack you in the middle of nowhere and kill your horse, making walk all the fucking way back to Armadillo, whistling all the way on the offchance there's a horse about.

Fuck cougars. Fuck them to hell. Wolves I can handle, but fuck cougars.

What the fuck are they doing there?
Are they hanging on to his horse upside down waiting for him to park?
