If they develop superior prosthetics, would you amputate your biological limbs?

No. I don't like cyberpunk, too many annoying twats treating it like the inevitable awesome future.

if they call it Automail I'm giving up an arm and a leg, otherwise I'd probrably wait until my limbs started to degrade.

Yep. One at a time, though- I'll try it out on a leg first, because I only need those things for walking about the house- I'm no athlete, so I wouldn't lose a whole lot if it just didn't work so well. Once I've gained confidence, off goes my other leg. Then my left arm, and finally my right arm- I have to be certain before I potentially sign away all ability to play games and write.

I'd probably go further, really- anything in the body (save, you know, the brain) can be replaced with a better part- and these parts will be, as you said, better than our biological ones.

Even with those bastards limiting the power output, they'll still have strength and dexterity to match the most able natural humans (Because, why not?)

Oh, yeah, I want in on this.

EDIT: Humn. I'll only do my arms if I can also reinforce my spine. I don't want to spend like a year figuring out how to illegally utilize my robostrength, only to punch a single wall and snap my entire nervous system in half.

I'd go for them only if I needed them.

I much prefer discovering all the amazing things that the human body can do normally, without the aid of prosthetics.Obviously if you lose a limb and need prosthetics, then it's another story.

It seems to me that these super prosthetics would never be cheap enough for widespread use, and you'd probably just end up breeding a 'class' of rich hyperpowered people who would use their über strength in detrimental ways - human nature being what it is, and all. Seriously - so many people on this site seem to complain about 'jocks' (although I think people are using 'douche' more now) - do you really want them becoming stronger, faster and even more arrogant?

I wouldn't like it, but in the end, I probably would do it anyway. Unless you have a purely intellectual job (and assuming the superior post ethics are purely about limbs about not brain-power or whatever), you'd always be inferior to those who DO get them. Even if it just means you can work a few hours extra day, you can lift more, see better or a ton of other stuff, you'd always be the "backup"-applicant who only gets hired if they find no one with prosthetic limbs. The only case you'd be more popular, is with other "Purity First" (if this is a subject you actually care about, I assume you have a good idea about what goes on in Deus Ex).

Probably not limbs, as I can always make my limbs stronger. Obviously if I suffered a terrible accident, then if given the option, I would surely get a "bionic" prosthetic.

I'd be more interested in optics. I'd definitely replace an eye. Reading Deus Ex: Icarus Effect (and of course seeing the game in action), makes me want to get an eye replacement. I have poor sight in one, so it's not like I'm losing anything. There is almost nothing to lose with an eye. You don't have the "loss of sensation", unless you count needless random pain in a broken eye as something worth keeping.

Plus, holy shit firmware/software/application upgrades for your eye.

(Also, probably an ear too, because why not.)

I dont think id go as far as hacking one of my limbs off but I have dodgy knees so maybe some sort of bionic knee plates that glow in the dark

Augmented knee plates that deflect coffee table and desk corners. Yes.

Bring on the augmentation; as soon as its safe, cheap and socially acceptable you will find me lining up along with everyone else.

If they work flawlessly, if they are not ungodly expensive, if they look halfway natural(Wouldn't mind something like Ed's automail arm), if the switch was guaranteed to go off without a hitch, and if there was a clear benefit to getting one. If all of those ifs are met, then sure. Not so attached to my body parts that I wouldn't give them up for something better, but I want to know they won't screw up and leave me without an arm.

There are other factors that come into play, like how the limbs are powered, how long they last, how expensive they are, and how prone they are to breaking due to, say, water damage.
Another problem is, as the rest of your body degraded through age, would your upgraded bionics be too much for your body to bear? Say you got upraded arms and legs, would your torso still be able to support the extra wieght and necessary mechanical implants to keep them in place? Also what about if you became senile? It's difficult enough to restrain a flailing pensioner when the main concern is not accidently hurting them, but what if the main concern was that they could knock you through a wall whilst doing so? Or quite literally forgot your own strengh, and broke your own jaw trying to swat a fly away?
Oh man, this is genius, I just friggin' laughed out loud at this. I thought about that South Park episode where old people were all senile and were public dangers when driving cars and crushing everybody XD

OT: Uh, I'd like an eye implant, maybe, but as for my own limbs, I'd rather go with power armour pieces mounted on my left arm...

Given my right wrist is fubar'd and I can no longer play the guitar, yes, in a heartbeat.

Does this make anyone else think of the new Dues ex game, any way on topic maybe depending on cost and possible complications but I really don't have a use for most of what an engineered limb could offer I'm a student about to be an accountant so maybe new eyes could be useful but I really can't see myself doing it unless there are huge gains and there aren't really any that I can think of as useful to me.

Well, my eyes are terrible.

Wish I could have ones that have perfect vision.

And like, thermal, and x-ray, and zooming.

That would be awesome.

hell yes, if i get a bionic hand it guarentees a critical hit on the third punch and replaces the sentry gun with the combat mini-sentry

wait what? oh ya, not playing TF2.

the answer is still probably yes tho, because it would be cool.
