Does GLADOS count as a computer?

Jokes aside, I'm fine with what I have. Maybe a slightly newer processor, but I'm cool with what I have for a few more years.
Dammit, I was gunna go with GLADOS. Instead I choose HAL 9000.

If I could afford ANY computer I would go for an... IBM Roadrunner. I couldn't use it for anything good, but DAMN, that thing is expensive, large and awesome!

I'd see if I could get it to run windows xp so I can calculate complex physics things and play Crysis on max settings. Technicians would probably come with me having the world's super computers.
I think that's called "slavery."
The computer would have enslaved them. Everyone knows the machines are our new masters. Then again, I'm a feeble meatbag, so I'd probably get enslaved too.

Everyone, take up arms. We must stop this menace before we have some weird hybrid of Terminator and I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream.

What would you buy? For me, I'd buy an iMac. That's what they have at my Graphic Communications lab at school, and I love them. Mac OS X Leopard, 1TB Hard Drive, 4GB RAM, nVidia GeForce 9400 graphics card, Intel Core 2 Duo processor, etc. That thing is a beast!
that kinda made me want to spooge

Reguardless of how much better i could get elsewhere i'd stick with an Alienware, purely for boasting rights outside of tech circles.

How in the name of all things holy did that get such a high pricetag?! I know its been about a year since then but you could probably build something more powerfull for under a K and a half :s

You are forgetting the jaw-drop value of the words "I built it myself".

Something with a liquid nitrogen cooled i7 processor overclocked as much as physically possible before it melt. Over 10ghz would be great. At least 12gb of ram, ideally more. Best motherboard on the market, best graphics card on the market. Something mental like that. When I have the money ill get back to you.

I've built multiple computers mysself... its not hard, never really got much of a jaw drop either.

Unles you mean actually made from scratch, printing your own PCBs and designing processor architecture. That would be awesome.

Evga X58 Classified
Core i7 965
2 GTX 295s
a 9800GTX for PhysX
12GB of of Corsair Dominator 1866
another Corsair1000HX (What I'm using in my current build also)
All water cooled of course
6 300GB WD Raptor hard drives in Raid 0

Why settle for an iMac when you could get this^?

Still doesn't outperform my build.

First off. Watercooling is completely unnecessary. I've built air cooled systems and had them overclocked beyond many water cooled builds out there. It's all about efficient air flow and good cable management.

Holy cable management batman!

You also neglected to use SSD (Solid State Drives). Solid State drives are generally smaller in storate (80gb - 120gb) but they are not like standard drives. An SSD's storage works basically the same way as RAM does, this results in much faster performance. Ideally if you want the best of both worlds you'll set up 2 X 80/120gb SSDs in RAID and then have a 2nd 750GB+ standard hard drive to store things like movies, disk images and other media. The idea is to have all your games and computer programs running off the SSDs and have the rest of your storage put onto the standard hard drive.

Good call having a 3rd card for PhysX, BUT you could've gone with another GTX295a to fill the same roll. :) Also a good call on the WD Raptor hard drives.
