I've actually met a guy named Zeus ^^

Oh and I'm happy with my name, but I would like to change my middle and surname ^^

Speaking of which? Can a guy take the girls surname when they marry?

Yup its just tradition that the woman take the mans name that's all.

I take these things way too seriously, don't I?

I was called God all through college, that was pretty neat...

Maximilian Xavier Leviathan Ezekiel Ilyich Kenobi, the Third

That would suffice. In fact, I'd love to name my future son that, but my wife thinks differently.

I swear like 50% of all your posts must be telling someone to use the search button.
Er, this is only the fifth time I've gotten on to someone about it, and so far it's been on threads that I'd seen duplicates of not two days before (zombie escape plan, superheroes, name changes, etc.). I just tend to do it in inventive and memorable ways, as opposed to plain out yelling at them.
Oh okay maybe I was exaggerating just a bit then.

I would change my name to Raymond Gunnarson. The short form of my name: "Ray gun".

I have a really common first name, practically the most common first name in the U.S., so I'd like to have a less common name like Arthur or Tristan.

Something common like Mike or John.
A great number of people I meet say "IS THAT REALLY YOUR REAL NAME!?" or "THAT IS THE COOLEST NAME EVAR!!!1" than they proceed to try to impress me with cursory knowledge of Norse Myths.

I'm not good at taking compliments.

I would never change my surname! That would disrespect my ancestors who earned the name on Ellis Island when they thought they were being asked "What's in the case?" when they were asked "What is your last name?"

Do you think it's legal to change your name to God?

and if you did change your name to God how many people would instead call you douchebag?
There was a basketball player a few years back named God Shammgod. There was also one at the University of Cincinnati in 2004 or '05 named Jihad Mohammed, who must've been a real conversation starter when the Bearcats went to board the team plane for a road trip.

Anyway, I'd probably either legally change my first name to my nickname (Fox) or just go a step further and make Fox my single-word legal name (like Teller of Penn & Teller fame, who legally dropped his first name of Raymond and is one of only six people with a one-word name on his passport.)

I wouldn't change my real name. Too accustomed to it.
However, if I could change my alias on the internet so everyone knew me as "Archimedes" instead of "Anarchemitis" and forgot all recollection of my former name, that would be very convenient.
Haha, if that is meant to be humerous, then good job. I enjoy that kind of humour.

...I wouldn't. I'm kind of fond of my name (Aaron), and I like the fact that my girlfriend's name is the same (Erin). Makes for good times when we're out an about, and annoys the hell out of my friends. Win-Win scenario, to my point of view.
then you could change both of your names so they can still match
...or- and this is a great idea I've got here- I could not. I could keep the name that I have, bearing in mind I have no problems with it. I could not ask my girlfriend to change her name, bearing in mind I have no problem with her name. I could stay on the good side of my father, by not throwing the name that he gave me away as if it meant nothing to me. I could keep the name that I have, keep everything easy, and continue on my life.

Hhmmm.....I think I'm gonna go with my idea. Nothing personal to those of you who do want to change your name, but I like mine as it is.
Suddenly this thread seems like Serious Fucking Business.

But I'd change my name to Bonesaw. Who's gonna mess with a Bonesaw?

True story though, in high school there was a girl named Jesse, who wore a tiara her entire high school career, in and out of school. When she turned 18 she legally changed her name to "Queen Jesse". She also never responded to just "Jesse" but only "Queen" or "Queen Jesse".

Needless to say, most of the people at that school really didn't like her very much.

Because if so, I applaud you good sir.
