If you could choose 1 game to be wiped from history forever... What would it be?

FF7, And I'll make a separate thread to explain why.

Both you and the topic will duly be ignored <3.

Halo. Mediocre-crappy shooter...
Ok? Thanks for letting me know? I didn't say you had to agree with me and I'm not forcing you to click the link.

I'd like to see Enter the Matrix wiped off the face of the Earth. That game was awful. The only mention of it should be in meetings for game developers and marketers where they use it as an example of how NOT to make a game.
This guy deserves an award...

Enter the Matrix...where to begin on how bad THAT one was? I'll give you an example of a boss fight, that CANNOT be won without using cheat codes: A gun battle with a helicopter in an airport...the helicopter has dual chainguns, you only have a small arsenal of weapons...

I would like Bungie to re-do the Halo series...only...make it more like the books. Let us see every side of the story, let us feel for the characters, let us know what its like to be truely badass as a SPARTAN-II and as tactical as an Elite...

Note: I hate Halo 3, but only due to the direction the story took. I think Bungie did good with Halo:CE and Halo 2. 3, however, could've used more work.

As for the games that I think should be WIPED OUT:

-WoW, for turning my friend into a zombie...
-Enter the Matrix for the reasons stated above the Halo rant.

A game that is above average but I am not fond of it for whatever reason. I will likely call it overrated or mediocre, or something synonymous to that. I will then add a few more derogatory statements about it, such as calling it gay.

Following this bit, I will quote you doing the same to a game that I enjoy and in a bout of irony call you biased or a fanboy.

Each and every game I don't like.

²

Adding to that, a game that I don't have any particular dislike for but I know is liked by many, just to piss those fans off.

Uncharted. It's an example of a game whose creative vision was determined by a focus group. Unoriginal, banal and terrible. It's all shine and no soul.

I'm going with the flow and saying halo. it spawned so many 'badass' space marine characters and unoriginal shooters that my eyes began to bleed. nothing against the halo games themselves, but christ! look what it started!

I'm pretty sure that was Doom.

Is this just the thread where all the new kids go to hang out now? Because this is probably the dumbest thread I've seen on here in a LONG time.

Sorry, but what?!? Unless you've got a spectacular reason for that I'm going to have to ignore everything you say in future.

I've noticed many people voting for some of the worst games in history, eg Shaq Fu, but then they wouldn't be there for us to laugh at.

*Facepalm*

What next? Deus Ex!?
What next? *Insert game that everyone on this forum seems to love, possibly involving some variation of Half-Life, even though I found it to be boring, and felt like the driving sections were some of the worst I've ever played.*

I think Halo, if only because it would force the market to be original, or at least pick something else to clone constantly.

To start:
Eliminating games as influential as FF7, Halo, GTA or WoW has implications you can never oversee. No matter how much you didn't like them, you can't remove these boys from history.

I'm still going to nitpick like a mofo though
EzraPound post=9.70087.748791 said:
In all honesty, most of the criticism I've seen levelled at Final Fantasy VII is merely nitpicking; typically having to do with triflings such as the imperfections of polygonal character models, a materia system that apparently detracts from the indidividuality of the protagonists (god help us), and a handful of typos through the script that are typical of RPGs in general prior to when, oh wait, FFVII catalyzed the genre in the western hemisphere. Funnier still is when the same people who so exuberantly critique it laud a title like Diablo, which didn't have half the influence on the genre, was lightyears less gratifying in terms of atmosphere and narrative, and that's central innovation in gameplay consisted of click, click, click.
Oh, you did not just...

Yes you did...

Diablo pioneered that you could assign a skill to a certain mouse button. And the atmosphere of that game was top notch. I was also quite enamoured by the story, mostly because of the fact that it isn't stuffed into your face at every point, they give you bits and pieces and you have to put it together yourself.

JRPG's have always given you very little to no control over modifying your characters. The materia system is actually one of the more usable and better innovations of FF7 I'd say.

Innovations Halo gave us, for better or worse.

Simple and effective to use melee attacks.
Simple and effective to use grenades.
Combining the two previous innovations gave a rock paper scissors dynamic to its combat mechanics.
Recharging shields.
Vehicle sections with hard to control but fun vehicles.
Two weapons at a time, drop one if you want to pick up another. (I know counterstike blah blah but it does work differantly in Halo)
I respect Halo for putting everything together in a console shooter but they did not invent a darn thing but recharging shields, which is becoming a shortcut to thinking in game design these days. Like I said above you simply cannot remove this game from history without destroying a lot that came after it.
Two weapon carry thing - Oni and CS (yeah its a bit different blah blah back at you...)
Grenades - Team Fortress Classic and anyone who can't pull out a grenade at the right moment in CS is a dunce, they're worth switching weapon for at times, which I find far more satisfying.
Melee Attacks - Duke Nukem, I'd rather have a melee attack I'd be willing to switch to, in which case we've got TFC's spy.
Rock paper scissors mechanic? I never got that at all really, I played Halo 1 for about 6 hours. Isn't it just using appropriate tactics for a given situation? Rainbow Six
Battle to Calm ratio - Rainbow Six, Soldier of Fortune
I'd like to reiterate I applaud them for putting it all together, but despite the shields, which I found an annoying mechanic from the get go, nothing was truly new here.

Edit:
Games I'd like to remove?
Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game

I'd probably remove Crash: Twinsanity, Pariah or Prey.

Twinsanity ruined the Crash formula.
Pariah? Seems like I should have downloaded it, as it to me was the world's most expensive standalone UT2004 mod.
Prey was bad. Just, bad.
