If you could do away with 1 gaming genre, what would it be?

Gran Turismo, Forza, games like that. They are a bit too realistic for my taste.
But that would mean no Gran Turismo 5. And that would make me and my father very, very, very, very angry.

OT:I don't know. There is no 1 genre that I hate entirely. But I guess I would get rid of the Educational genre. Seeing as how we wouldn't really lose any great games from it.

racing games. I universally suck at them. I'm probably the best shooter/rpger (VGs, not tabletop ... I know some serious roleplayers) in my group of friends ... but racingh? I have NEVER come first in a racing game against a human opponent. NEVER.

I >:[ Racing games.

well i cant say that i would ever get rid of a genre, as they all have contributed to this great hobby... but if i had to i would have to say, realistic sports games, in fact i would have to say that the development team should be forced to live in disgrace and stuck on an island with only 1 source of food that they had to fight over for our amusement.

I don't like sports games...

JRPGs that do the whole thing of random battles and instead leave the "visible monsters to pick and choose fights with" option instead.
I am tired of hiking across the wilderness trying to get from one town to another, getting stopped numerous times to conk a monster and his chums over the head when I don't even need to level up.
Having the option of picking and choosing fights in Star Ocean 3 was a godsend back in the day for me!

first person shooters for me, they just make me feel claustrophobic and the controls are always fiddly cos you can hardly see where you're walking, they shall not me missed...

FPS. Oh please let FPS die, the good games have all gone and now we are left with shit franchises focused upon online play and full of bitchy toddlers.
And yet they are still more fun than every other genre of games.
In your opinion they are, in my mind however the good FPS games have gone.I'd take games like Bayonetta or Okami over COD or Halo anyday.
Besides theres only so many ways you can shoot someone you know.
Well maybe more creative ways are needed? More steampunk guns please!
To be perfectly honest if they would make Timesplitters 4 I would take back what I said. However it doesn't look like its gonna happen anytime soon. Sadface.

FPS's.

I like turn based combat if it's done well and requires you to actually be intuitive and think the strategy through fully, not the mindless HOLD X FOR ATTACK AND WIPE FLOOR WITH EVERYTHING.

FPS's just because it'd be nice to see people try to use their imagination more then COD7012 and Halo4251
come on. Cod has about (correct me If I'm wrong) 12 games in its series, a new one every year and no end in sight. Halo had six games over 9 years and bungie said they won't make anymore. Apparently microsoft has the rights to a halo game, but I do hope the series is over so It won't get the milked series tagg. Mario has been milked more than halo has. Over the coarse the mario party games were being made (1998-2007) 11 games were made and they were all preety similiar. Some argue that the halo series are all similair titles, but alot of games in series's are. I think that the only reason halo gets Its storey raged about or its milked tag are because they are popular.

ot: Sports games.

Movie-Games. They all, save one or two, suck balls and we should just stop trying. Might not be a legitimate genre, but they might as well freaking be.
well, what are theese few that you like?

FPS, mostly cause, i don't like em, (with the exception of Metriod Prime) like at all, and with them gone, maybe we can start making games like we used to, you know DIFFRENT from eachother in more ways the just character modles

in an extremely close second, sports games, for LITERALY making the same game, every year, with almost NO variations

third would be JRPGs for making the same game over and over again, while similar to the sports game reasoning, they are slightly different enough, to be a different game, though 9 times out 10 about some whinny loser that looks like a girl, but is supposed to be boy, ether oblivius to the female leads interest OR in an ... odd .. relation ship with their sister -.-
(western RPGs like, well anything made by Bioware are same, for the reason of not sucking by not being all emo about everything)

Why would I get rid of any genres?
Thought, for the sake of the thread, I'd probably choose racing or sports.

Failure to read means I repeat myself. I said afterwards that I'd prefer just to end all sequels period.

Consolised FPS games easily... Die Halo!!! Die!!!
Why darkness WHY!?... Do you dislike the halo franchise, perhaps in bullet point format.
I play both PC and console FPS shooters and found that each one adapts to it's control system fairly well. Sure you can use a magnum in HL2 like one would use a rifle to get a clear precise shot....so? Course a mouse is going to be more precise than a controllers analog stick but the console based FPS games do have a degree of accuracy nevertheless.
As long as you're able to get headshots and such then that's the point of the entire game is it not, whatever controller you use to do it?

I like the console variant the most as it'll have that pick up and play appeal to it over the PC

I like me some turn based RPGs every now and again.

There's not really a genre that I despise, I'm not a fan of sports, but they can be fun, sometimes.

I'd probably murder those expensive poorly made indie games.

DON'T get me wrong, I love the indie game genre, but just poorly made ones sicken me.

Music games. Oh you spent how much money on the controllers? How much on the time in game? You could have learnt the guitar or drums whatever in that time for the same amount of money.
