Mm, to be honest, no. While it does sound very compelling and everything, it's basically a thin vail over the question of narcotics, and mainly halucigens. I wouldn't miss my one and only chance to live life, no matter how brutally terrible it might be... Well... If it was VERY bad, than I probably would, if I had nothing to lose. But in my current state, no.

Hell yes, within a heart beat and no looking back.

Just as long as I can take a friend or two with me then I'm all for it, or hell make some new awesome friends since I no longer am bound by reality.

I would wait till I was about to die, and use it because, isn't that what heaven is supposed to be like?

No. It would just be a gilded cage, it looks nice, but its not real, and your just living a lie, a meaningless lie. I would rather find real happiness even if its not as interesting.
Pretty much this.

Besides, the other night I mnaged to pull off a lucid dream after reading an article a mate sent me and I felt kind of wierd for a day or two afrterwards...maybe I just have simple tastes.

I saw this on the Ricky Gervais SHow, which is hilarious by the way, if you haven't seen it, watch it.

Anywho, the discussion was this: If there was a machine that could allow you to escape reality, lets call it a 'dream machine', but it makes it so real that you don't really have to ever wake up, you age normally in real life, but in the dream machine ANYTHING is possible, living in a magical world with dragons, the future, saving the world as a hero, and if you think things are too happy, make things sad for yourself, emotions are the same as you brain is still active and lets just say that you wouldn't have to worry about real life events like eating and sleeping and other stuff (unless of course a disaster happens in the real world while you are in dream state, but lets not be pessimistic here).

WOULD YOU TAKE THAT OPPORTUNITY TO ESCAPE THE REAL WORLD?
Can I come and go as I please, or is it an all or nothing affair?

By the way, the show that you imbedded has nothing to do with the topic you brought up and I'm just curious which part of it you found "hilarious." I'm not being sarcastic or anything, I just didn't get a single laugh out of it and the host was being kind of a jerk.

Prior to getting married and having a child, I always said I would have chosen to be in the Matrix. Now? Sigh.. maybe in 30 years.

Yes. Reality is shit and anybody who thinks it's worthwhile is living a bigger lie than the man in the tank.

Without A Second Thought

Or A Look Backwards

It maybe a "gilded cage" but even thats better than harsh reality.

Or you could learn to lucid dream.

That's called having the cake.
And eating it too.
I like you (or at least your point)
Daydreaming is good enough for me.
Besides if you can control everything it would be boring you would know exactly what would happen so no drama, not what if's. It just seems too easy and in my opinion would suck.

And in another point, I don't trust electronics not to screw up/become sentient and try to kill me/explode/get hacked by some asshole/get broken by some asshole/lose power/lose connection/go into idle mode(this gave me a funny image of a holodeck with a screensaver)
But you get my point.

Would I ever! Every dream I have is really a nightmare cause when I wake up, I'm back in this horrible place.

Would this be tantamount to suicide, insofar as it would hurt those that you leave behind? Because if that were the case, I would most likely stick around here until things got truly awful. It's very tempting, though; I sleep a lot for this very reason [well, I can't lucid dream, but I like not having to deal with reality for hours on end]. I'm pretty sure the only thing holding me back from suicide is the fact that in doing so I would hurt those I love. And the biological imperative to live.

No. Life without limits? Life where I know exactly what is going to happen? Boring. Life without surprises would be awful.
Sort of like how god mode always gets boring after a while.
And then when you've done all there is to do, the only thing left is killing yourself. I don't like that.

It'd be rather convenient as a tool to sleep in, but one way or another, I'd rather be living a real life.
