Well my first thoughts were Teddy Roosevelt. That man was quite badass. Then I remembered Andrew Jackson, who got into quite alot of fights and walked around with a bullet in him for a while. I imagine Abraham Lincoln and George Washington would be quite useful in a fight due to their size.
But why limit myself to American politicians? There are plenty of "politicians" who got to power due not to being the most popular, but by severing the head of the previous ruler. Genghis Khan was quite the conqueror and I imagine quite good in a scuffle. Julius Caesar also managed to conquer large parts of Europe. Alexander the Great managed to make the Hellenic culture a widespread one.

I think a little bit of time watching Fox News, reading some forums, and giving him a head-set connection to X-Box live would make him switch from "turn the other cheek" to "eye for an eye" pretty quick.
