Listen here, I don't know if this is just widespread shame or more of a minority opinion than I had supposed, but my pokemon of choice would a gardevoir. That is, a female gardevoir. I think they're beautiful, and there are no doubt advantages to having a psychic girlfriend. Do keep in mind that they are also the approximate size and shape of a human, which would be quite convenient when trying to decide where to put them. So yes, I'm one of those weirdos, but to those who take offense: Do something about it. I don't care about your opinions.

In real life, when you don't have the convenience of little capsules that apparently lobotomize your minions, you'll be wishing you picked the small, cute and loyal ones. Because as it is if you try ordering those around you'll wind up eaten, blasted away, trapped in a neverending nightmare, or worse. Not to mention the hassle you'd have trying to transport them everywhere.

Besides, everyone knows that the character with the super-awesome-badass team is the one that always loses to the character with the cute-but-reasonably-cool team.

You refer to real life then end with cute, tiny, weak creatures defeating what are effectively deities?

I'd take my chances with the awesome, useful, strong ones over slightly more colourful versions of weasels and rabbits.


EDIT: Also, with the exception of Scizor, they'd transport me (though Scizor could fly/glide us sometime).

Correction: Seemingly weak. I know for a fact that Espeon can utterly destroy Groudon just by blinking (Read: One-shot with psychic from twenty levels below the legendary). I was switching to the "cute things killing gods" to cover things from a non-IRL standpoint as well.

You seem to forget that the slightly more colorful weasels and rabbits can control a multitude of powers with just as much deadly efficiency when raised and trained correctly, whereas deities would probably just step on/eat any random human who assumed they had control of them. And let's not get started on what they'd do after they decided you were an ungrateful douche for ordering them about. We folks with cute poster pokemon can't go cleaning up you "It's awesome and therefore I must have it" types' messes all the time, you know.
