There are a lot of games out there are good, but it feels like the designers either left out something that needed to be in it added something that just didn't belong/made the game far less fun or implemented something that should of worked in theory, but doesn't work in practice.

What game(s), what would you change and how?

Be specific. Saying "Rewrite the script" is too broad and vague, while "fix the scene where X happens so X now happens in a way that works" is much more specific.

Off the top of my head, I'd suggest the following:

-Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood: A fun western shooter that I really liked, but there was one thing I hated about it that's kept me from replaying it. The stupid one on one duels. They start out as an interesting change up to the regular FPS game-play but the farther you get into the game, the more exact the timing needs to be to win one, to the point it needs to be nearly perfect. It becomes really frustrating and I began to dread each duel.

What makes it worse is that there's no reason justified in game that the main characters would fight a duel instead of just playing dirty and shooting the other guy in the back, especially later in the game when they've both become amoral assholes who care nothing about others, let alone honor.

So I would either drop the duels entirely, make them skippable if you've failed them a few times or just make them optional from the get go.

-Final Fantasy X. The voice acting in this game ranges from decent to "God, Tidus, just shut up!" and as far as I know, there's no way to turn off the voice acting. Give me a "Voices off" button and let me read the subtitles for the rest of the game.

Batman: Arkham Knight - Fix the god awful Keyboard+Mouse Batmobile controls. I waited months for the game to get patched, grinding my teeth in anticipation. The patch finally dropped, and I got to play. Everything was fantastic - It was glorious. Until I was forced into the miserable piece of shit that is the Batmobile. Its completely unresponsive, slides around like Gotham's been coated in Teflon, and in general just killed every ounce of enthusiasm I had for the game before hand. After trying my hand at the first Riddler trial, I quit playing, and haven't touched it since. Just the thought of getting back in that hunk of junk makes me anxious.

I haven't the slightest idea how to fix them - Making the controls more responsive would be a start, and perhaps making it steerable with the mouse (Because honestly, with how terribly it controls, why in God's name would you look anywhere but where your going). Just... something.

Though, maybe its just me. No one else seems to be having an issue.

I would have settled for an option to just shank Tidus an hour into the game and never have to deal with him again.

Menu->Options->Shank Tidus in his throat->Execute.

Crystal Music plays. "Everyone wins, especially you" is displayed. Fin.

BloodBorne - Allow fast travel between lanterns, rather than forcing players to go back to the hub. The only difference it would make to the way the game works is one less loading screen. It is not as though it makes the game easier, or removes a challenge of any kind. The previous two Souls games allowed you to do it and the removal of it made no sense at all.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain - The base/staff management User Interface needs a complete overhaul as it was designed awfully. It's hard to really explain in words, but the way things are sorted are silly, the hoops you have to jump through to get information are annoying and there are a ton of small, but vital features that are missing (certain search options for example) that really should not have been overlooked.

League of Legends - The removal of Tier 1 and 2 runes as they quite simply are not worth it. At level 20 you can use Tier 3 and from that point on anything less is just a waste of IP (the currency you earn from playing matches). Players are better off just not buying any runes until level 20 and going straight to Tier 3 then instead. Before level 30 you cannot play ranked anyway, so there is no desperate need for them that early in the game.

Halo 5 - Add offline bots, preferably customizable, since we're not getting splitscreen of any kind. You owe us THAT much, 343. Are you guys listening?

Guild Wars 2 - Weapons now have 2 sets of skills and you can now swap out whichever ones you don't want.

Bravely Default: Don't spoil the twist until the end.

Borderlands 2: Add a rule to the procedural generation to stop optical zoom scopes being put on shotguns.

Halo 4: Put all the Brute weapons and vehicles back in.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: Needs a "Smash Run"-like section in single player... unless I'm either too blind to see it and/or no one has shown me a close equivalent yet... :p

Virtua Quest: Remove the level-up-based system... It's barely used properly, anyway... :p

Other than that...

Add the actual battles that happened in the DS game! HOW DARE YOU JUST FADE TO BLACK ON THAT SHIT!!

(rant) Seriously, you took out the only good thing that made people actually tolerate playing through it (especially when, this time, we get to see it instead of actually playing it) and you replaced it with these "fade to black" jump-cuts... Even someone who will never play the DS version would wonder why the fuck you didn't try to animate those "off-camera" battle sequences, let alone a "screenshot slideshow" with sound effects playing in the background to signal a battle taking place...

I mean... DA FUCK, Squeenix?! (/rant)

Arkham Knight--Reduce the complete reliance on the Batmobile. By doing this, you'd also address another huge problem with the game: Boss Fights. As in, the complete LACK of said fights. By getting rid of, or at least reducing the constant use of it, you'd force the developers to focus on other stuff that made the previous two games great.

Bloodborne--I think the game needs some new areas, mainly outside of Yharnam. The game, and thus the lore behind it, just feels so much smaller compared to all the other Souls games, and I think that's because you spend the vast amount of time in Yharnam.

Dragon Age Inquisition: Freaking. Side. Quest. Dialogue. Okay, yeah, a lot of this game was fluff and filler, but so much of that could have been made less tedious if your companions commented on the stuff you're doing. So many of those quests just...end, with no comments or discussion from anyone. And you are left wondering why you bothered doing it in the first place. A good example of how it should be done is all the comments Varric makes while you go through the Hissing Wastes, exploring the dwarf ruins. An example of how of poorly it is done nearly everywhere else Stalker in Emprise du Lion. Why did I waste my time with that if nothing happens and no one says anything?

Far cry 3 and 4 could be really improved by not locking your weapon and skill upgrades to mission completion.

Borderlands 1-2, if I didn't have to bend over to pick up ammo and power-ups, then it would make the game so much quicker and fluid. (Actually a lot of games seem to have this problem where they make picking up base loot take too long.)

Borderlands has exactly no excuse for making you manually pick up ammo because it does it automatically if you are in a vehicle. At what point, in what is essentially an arcade shooter, would I not want to pick up ammunition? Never! There is never a time when you don't want more ammo!

Far cry 3 and 4 could be really improved by not locking your weapon and skill upgrades to mission completion.
I think the weapon locks for missions were OK. Some of the later guns were really OP compared to guns like the AK-47. The locking of skill upgrades was stupid.

It was also weird and annoying that if you liberated the radio towers, you got weapons for free. I assume this was Ubisoft's way of apologizing for the horrific weapon unlock system that Far Cry 2 had. I went through that game with the Dragonov and G3 because I couldn't be bothered to collect a million diamonds to get both the malaria pills and new guns.

OP: I would change the Mass Effect 2/3 end- Gotcha! The Mass Effect 2/3 thermal clip ammo mechanics. Say what you will about the gameplay in ME1, but the ammo mechanics were awesome. It would have been really cool to see those mechanics applied to the ME2 gun mechanics that made each weapon do something different, rather than just being a re-skin with bigger numbers.

Hmm..I really liked the Batmobile. The entire map in Arkham Knight was designed around the Batmobile so it would be pretty empty without it. And for the most part it worked out nicely. I thought it was cool that after 3 games they atleast tried to do something different instead of repeating the same formula again(even if the freeflow combat have been deepened and perfected here).

If I had to make some changes to Arkham Knight it would be to let Dini make some changes to the script. I really liked the general plot of the game but it wasn't as lively as either Asylum or City and the side-missions lacked character(two-face for example just being a regular thug in those repetitive robberies). I do would tone down on the Batmobile a bit and then primarily on those 'tank' missions which started to drag.

Bloodborne--I think the game needs some new areas, mainly outside of Yharnam. The game, and thus the lore behind it, just feels so much smaller compared to all the other Souls games, and I think that's because you spend the vast amount of time in Yharnam.
Noooooo..I love Bloodborne's more intimate setting and story. I wish people stopped seeing it as just another Souls title which it isn't. Bloodborne is basically just a tightly contained gothic horror story about a monstrous birth, not a grand fantasy 'epic'. There are enough of those. And there is only one Bloodborne. :p

Anyways the most recent game I really liked that could use some changes is Watch Dogs. I really like the game's contemporary cyberpunk setting which showed a lot of potential for an open world game. The shooting and stealth mechanics were excellent(though the shooting could use some more 'oomph') but the driving was really bad. So that is in drastic need of improvement. I also wished they de-emphasised the lame character drama and uninspired characters in favor of the ctOS and Dedsec background story which was way cooler.

The Walking Dead: Season 2 - Have more time to walk around and interact with things/people.

Season 1 had much more of this, and I really missed it. I still absolutely loved the narrative (there's no denying it was the best aspect of the game) but I was sad to realize that for most of this season the only control I had was in dialogue options and occasionally getting to press x to advance. Let me walk around and pick up stuff! Let me talk to the people in our group and find out more about them!

What made it even more frustrating was the fact that TWD is an episodic series. One of the greatest benefits of that is that Telltale can (and should have been) listening to the fans feedback as they went and at the very least acknowledge it. From what I understand, fans WERE crying out for more interactivity with the environment and optional dialogue with characters since episode 1, but Telltale outright ignored their pleas from start to finish. In fact, it actually got WORSE as time went on.

I sincerely hope they've learned that lesson for season 3, but there isn't anything to suggest they will have. I don't even mind the fact that my choices don't make a bloody difference - just let me interact with crap!

FF8: Shoot Rinoa in the face. It wouldn't fix the combat, which would still remain dreadful, however, it would get rid of Squall's ridiculous shift in character during CD3, would give us more time with the other characters (the only good part of ff8 besides the GFs and obviously triple triad) and hopefully result in more missions similar to the one you recieve during the beginning of the game aka Biggs and Wedge's wacky robot spider adventure.

Well well well! I can't just pass up an opportunity to lambast the game that I've thrown so much happy larking at all this time! I vote Final Fantasy 8. The change? Oh nothing special... Just the fact that it exists. Heh heh heh heh heh...

Age of Empires: Online.

Make it not an MMO. The whole gear on your units, daily quests, locking units behind levels and pay walls and so and and so on with mechanics meant to encourage you to play for a lot longer than necessary were the only things wrong with the game. It was well optimized, at least in my experience; there was an excellent aesthetic; excellent unit variety; it was at least well balanced enough any power combos weren't immediately obvious; the whole "build your own city" and using it as a hub for embarking on quests was actually pretty fun if it weren't for the whole "by the way, half the stuff you find you cant use unless you pay us" thing; and even the quests had enough variety and gimmicks to make them pretty fun. It was a game that would have been absolutely excellent if it wasn't an MMO, and now it's lost to the winds of time.

Sleep well AOE:O. You were a gem tarnished with the dirt of online and Microsoft didn't realize they had to wipe it off until far too late.

GTA Online: There are many things I would want to improve but the one on my mind from playing today is, add in crouch outside cover and prone positions. The ammout of environment variety in that game would warrant having those stance positions so that the player could make the best of their situation, namely when a huge battle breaks out as it inevitably will, it would be nice to be able to find cover without relying on the cover system.

The voice acting is pretty terrible for the most part. But I couldn't imagine it without the voices now. It would seem so quiet...kinda eerie, just watching Tidus flail his one arm to the side.
For FFX I would rather be able to skip cutscenes. Then I could just skip the laughing scene instead of muting it, leaving, and getting a snack.

In Ninja Gaiden Black, taking out the military units. I have no time for those god damn flying lazers, tanks, and rocket tards.
