Ranmaru Mori is a guy. For Samurai Warriors, and most other games that take place during the Sengoku/Warring States period of Japan (think of it as their Middle Ages), they try to take the most simplistic or idealistic form of the character as they can. Ranmaru Mori was the attendant of Nobunaga Oda (the first person to conquer all of Japan) but started so at a very young age, so most versions you see of him are as a child/young boy, and mixed with the animelike style, probably gave you the idea that he was a girl
