People either love him or don't like him, I've found.

I don't like him because Scizor seems more like the family friendly version of Scyther instead of his evolved form. I don't see the point in a evolution where a creature goes from blades for arms to claws. Scizor seems more like the unevolved form of Scyther.

I prefer Scizor out of the two. Those claws are actually quite powerful. Scizor only has one weakness (Fire) and has awesome defenses due to its Steel typing. However, it is much slower than Scyther.
