I would pick a Falcon, because Falconry is AWESOME. he could sit on your shoulder and steal money from rich people and it would be called 'Ranzo'.

But also, maybe a crocotta if it would be friendly? A giant, talking dog would be kind of awesome. I'd have to name them "Clifford."

Or perhaps a griffin? If it gets the truth-field thingie magic, that would be kind of awesome and a sweet form of income to assure them plenty of tasty steaks. :3

OT: Real life, I wouldn't want anything that could eat me when it becomes an adult, so I'd have to say maybe a Falcon if I could train it right, that'd be pretty cool.
