If you could remove ONE stock mission from any game, what would it be and why?

Escort missions.

How about you wait and let me kill the horde of dangerous creatures that want to kill you instead of running straight into them!

Escort missions. I hated those things in Mech Warrior 2.

I always to my best to avoid them, or just get the mission over with quickly.

Either escort missions or random races. Just so uncalled for. Or Anytime you have to switch to some random background character who is defenseless, offenseless, no weapons and one hitpoint and your expected to do something extraordinary. Or Random vechile <----(how the hell do you spell that word !!) missions that have no need in the game. like the jet ski in drakes for example.

Are we just referring to FPS, or can it be a stock dungeon in an RPG? For the FPS genre, it's the escort mission.

For RPGs, the mazes... especially the ones that screw up your sense of direction.

I hate escort or 'catch them!' missions. They are usually unreasonably difficult and require you to play the game in some weird-ass atypical way.
Example: Zelda; Twilight Princess. There is a part where you are following a carriage as it getting attacked you are riding the horse tring to control it while aiming the arrows to shoot at things. It's hard to ride and aim at once which requires like 3 or 4 fingers.

GTAIV and SR2 have missions like this as well. "Catch that guy!" The shoot while driving scenario is teeth-gnashingly difficult.

They needed to get somewhere and they used the Jet Ski, makes sense to me. I liked the Jet Ski at the end of Resident Evil 4 as well.

Great game either way.
Yea it was, i was more or less getting to the point of game mechanics. Some engines and their game play are geared to a certain degree. Then you add vechiles (ugh stupid word)to the mix and whatever combat controls you have go to shit in the process.

Racing missions in games that are not racing games. Get from point A to point B fast!
And don't you mind the horrible driving controls. *Looks at Saint Row 2*
