If you could visit one fictional universe, which would it be?

Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere, probably on Roshar, but only if I am somewhat immune to any harm there :p. Man, a lot is going to happen there.

To be a bit pretentious, I'd visit the universe I created for my still-unfinished novel just to see how well it works on the inside.

To be less pretentious, I think I'd go for The Last Airbender universe.

Star Wars. The old republic times, where you could actually get a Corellian ship without it being recovered from a swamp. Gosh the original trilogy times were shitty. Gotta be a smuggler though, I'm uncoordinated enough to kill myself with a lightsaber. Plus it's like Firefly with Star Wars tech.

Warhammer 40k obviously. Because there is no existence more fulfilling than beeing one of trillions of worthless workers doing your work in the depths of some Manufactorum until you die of exaution and undernurishment at young age.
All in veneration to the divine Emperor and holy Terra.
There is nothing more venerable than beeing one of the uncounted Guardsmen giving their lives to deny the foul enemies of mankind just one inch of sacred imperial ground. Suggesting anything else would be Heresy.
Glory to the Imperium! Glory to holy Terra! Death to the false Emp.... Uh..... I mean.... Death to the enemies of man!.... Yeah that..... *BLAM*

That's quite the OP right there. Bravo man *claps, impressed indeed by it's format*
Thanks, it's one I've perfected over several different threads :)

Probably the universe of the Belgariad, if I couldn't hop into my own fictional worlds ^^
Heh, yeah I specified a published work in the OP so people couldn't say they would for example opt to be a deity in a custom-designed paradise or whatever. The genie might be more flexible about an already fleshed-out world designed by yourself but not made for those purposes... if he was in a good mood that day.

Pokemon, no doubt. Specifically the Johto region.

Though I must confess, the Mushroom Kingdom is what first came to my mind. To get specific again, the Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door version.

Hah, I was going to say the same. It would be great to meet characters you made up in real life. Otherwise I'd choose lord of the rings for the world or DBZ for the flying and laser beams.

Star Trek universe, Federation core world (earth or one of it's daughter colonies). Life would just be so utterly easy, just do whatever, whenever, with a buttload of magitech to handle any practical needs, casual interstellar travel for whenever I get board of the holodecks, and I can pursue any pointless humanities thing (I'm arguing on the interent. I'm a political philosopher! Now I'm a re imagining novelist! Now I'm a student of history, because CKII, or whatever the Trek equivalent is!)I feel like and they'd still buy that I'm "contributing to the advancement of the human spirit" or whatever hippie crap early TNG liked to bang on about. In short, as long as I stay off the Starfleet ships, I should be set up for easy street. Gonna have to be pre-Dominion War, though. I don't wanna get drafted out of my cushy supertech commie-slacker paradise.

Star Trek, post-TNG Earth... just long enough to get every one of my chronic injuries repaired. Well, that or Elysium, provided I get transported straight into one of their auto-doc machines. Seriously, those things can fix stage 3 leukemia or a torn off face in under a minute... the scar tissue buildup, torn tendons, calcium deposits, split vertebral discs and minor nerve damage I've got would be child's play next to that.

The setereotypical "manga and anime universe." Not one of the magical or made-up worlds, like the worlds of Fairy Tail or Bleach, but simply the world of high school romance shoujo, and slice-of-life, and all the manga and anime that's stereotypically "manga" and "anime" but doens't contain any fantasy or sf elements.

My choice? My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, obviously. And it's not like anypony's gonna noitice another Pegasus running around, right?
Well that didn't take long. This would be my second choice I think.

First I would want to go to the Star Wars universe. Get myself a lightsaber, maybe fly an X-wing, and then leave before another war broke out, or a new Force threat emerged, or any number of problems that always seem to pop up in that world.

World of Warcraft:

Awesome scenery:

Death isn't permanent, you just visit a spirit healer and walk back!

No shortage of excitement, super bad guys for me to heroically kill are around every corner!

Giant frikkin swords and spiffy magic!

Pizzazz, I simply love the flavor and style of the the universe. Especially seeing adorable gnomes with giant two handed swords chopping things to bits, or tanking some impossibly huge boss. I have a soft-spot for "adorable things that kick ass" and WoW has that in spades.

If I said anything other than Pokemon I'd just be lying to myself. It's practically my version of utopia.

I'll have to parrot Pokemon. I'd also love to spend a year or two in the seaside village in Ponyo, visit The Shire, some major cities in the Elder Scrolls. Probably spend some time in the Mass Effect universe. I haven't played W.o.W in a while - but I wouldn't mind seeing a few of their major cities. I'd do a lot of traveling. lol

Yep, that's what I was going to say: "Well the best answer is obviously a fictional universe of your own making."

Technically, though, one of the rules is that it has to be an already published universe, so people with works-in-progress such as us can't claim our own universe.....yet. :p

And on that note...

OT: Going by the rules and stipulations as set in the OP, I'd go with the Predator universe. And since the 3rd stipulation in the OP implies that we'd get to chose what form/powers/inventory/etc we'd have upon entering it: I'd be a Predator myself. I think that'd be fun...in a rather gruesome sort of way. >:D

Though choice... Either Mass Effect's universe or Fairy Tail's. Both seem pretty awesome.

In ME's universe I'd probably be a vanguard. I like charging in and fighting enemies up close. In Fairy Tail's...uhm. No idea, right now what kind of mage I'd be. ^^;; Maybe one that uses magic to enhance his body.
Fairy Tail ftw :D

I would obviously be the greatest earth-bender in Legend of Korra's fictional history.

Pff, your force and everything. I can build a house just by flailing my arms around and kicking the ground with my feet.
Also water healing. Best kind of healing!
