Everything that George Carlin saw wrong with the world.
Because it would be an awesome result.
i hope you take religion out of that list, because despite the zealots, it is an enforcer of morals, and also makes a fuck ton of people content in the belief that when they die, it isnt the end. i know i would be a goddamn hedonist if i didnt hope that being good would get me more than just tiny ass short term gain, in the form of not a fuck ton of suffering.

It stays on the list.
i see your point, i was just thinking that by religion you meant complete removal of any beliefs altogether by anyone, rather than just getting rid of the oversized organized religions who like to stick their pious hats into other people's business.
i wasn't saying they helped human progress, im saying religious beliefs, which are bound to form organizations because of like minded individuals but thats beside the point, do the little job of providing a sense of security and content, sometimes even strength and will to go above and beyond, in people who do believe (which really cant be qualified as a bad thing no matter how ya look at it).
and also, it had no small hand in generating the morals many people in the developed worlds share, and if i remember correctly (correct me if im wrong), many of the enlightenment thinkers didn't dismiss the church entirely, as it did have some good ideas, it just had a lot more power hungry, hedonistic, pricks (see the book "a world lit only by fire". middle section i think, covers the church in late medieval/renaissance quite well in this respect)
