I'd lay down my life for something big, something that would validate all my choices in life up that point. If all the mistakes I've made lead me to a point where I push a 4 year old child out the way of a bus, getting hit myself, assuming the child doesn't turn out to be the next Hitler/Nick Griffin, or some evil crimelord, then I'd be fine with that.

I do not really care for anything else that much, but I assume it also depends on the circumstances.

I could imagine fighting for other people, other peoples kids, for instance. And that always includes the possibility of getting killed.

Beeing female, I don´´t think I could ever refuse a fight to save any child.
But for my own, I would perhaps die without a fight, if that would save it.
