If I had undeniable truth I would show it to world PURLEY because they tried to force me into Cristianity through constant propoganda in Primary school.
I was actually in a similar situation back in Elementary, so same with me.

If I had proof god didn't exist, would I tell the world? Yes. I don't believe god exists already. Where's the proof? We're the proof. Take a good look at human behaviour. I say we invented god, not the other way round. The concept only exists because humans give credence to it. If god are real, it's only because we make them real. The only true god are us. We create, destroy, our sciences are amazing. I think the actual proof will come when we get to the point where we can truly communicate with animals. Maybe this is why dolphins are laughing all the time. They've been observing us for centuries...

First of all, what is happiness? Why, unless I'm mistaken, it's a state of mind triggered by chemical reactions. Regardless of what triggers those chemicals, it still has the same end result. Your argument is flawed. As to your other point, you are at least partially correct. However, religion isn't an outlet for faith. People do not need religion to express their faith. Religion drives the idea of faith in a particular belief system into it's followers minds. I'll ask you this, while we're on the topic of postulation (as you've brought up). If your parents, grandparents, guardians, friends, or whoever else raised you had never, ever once mentioned ANYTHING about faith, religion, God, or any such thing, would you even contemplate the idea of putting your "faith" into something like a religion? Let's face it. You wouldn't. You probably wouldn't even have had the idea there was any kind of deity. Likewise, while it is true many people have taken things "too far", as you put it, the problem is, religion throughout history has given power to those that do take it too far. It also gave them excuses to perform horrible atrocities. I never stated that religion was the sole cause of all of histories worst nightmares, but it was a major player in most of them.
I'm sorry, was this still going?
Alright, I'll put it this way: The happiness you get from crack is synthetic, and damages your ability to control the happy-hormones yourself. Religion doesn't.
Religion is an outlet for faith. That does not mean people need religion to express their faith, but it is a way they can.
As for your argument about whether or not I would have "put my faith into something like a religion" if the idea had never been brought up... I will have to say yes. It's human nature.
I, personally, am not religious. I have this quasi-religious view that everything will work itself out (and so far, it has) but I align myself with no deity. Except plausibly the mouse in the purple tailcoat and top hat I contemplated when I was little, but that's irrelevant.

Religion has given people an excuse to take things too far over the course of history, but that's just because it was an easy excuse. Even without religion, most of these atrocities would have occurred, because they had a different driving force behind them, be it conquest, greed or just plain violence.

As it has been an easy excuse to justify actions, it has also become an easy outlet for blame. I honestly don't see why you are so hostile towards it, but I'm guessing it has had some form of negative impact on your life.

No I wouldn't, even though I am atheist, a lot of people are Christian, and if people found out that they weren't going to "Heaven" or "Hell" or whatever, the morallity in the world would decrease to the point where we would create our own destruction, there are people who would still be nice, but I know too many who would just go wild.

You'd probably be murdered.

And people wouldn't care. Religion is not based on proof. Science is based on proof. Religion is based on what belief makes you feel better about reality.

I would show it to the world, but no one would believe me. The sensible religious people would ask how I got to that and for another witness. The die-hards would just ignore me and call it blasphemy like the mules they are. And the non-extreme athiests would just think I'm insulting/making fun of them. The world would live on, nothing would change, and people will still do silly things for what people said thousands of years ago.

Simple. Noone would believe you.

Why? Because the existence of god, by definition, is unprovable. If it was provable by lil old us, it wouldnt be god but just some random superthingy.

If your part of the puzzle, you'll never see the whole thing.

But just assuming the above wouldnt be true, id reveal it just becaue i CAN.
No you got it worng, You can prove god exsists, but not that he DOESN'T exsists.

To all those people saying God is unprovable, you may be correct. However, it is very possible to disprove that every miracle or impossible event detailed in the bible is a lie, (ie time machine). This would convince about 99% of Christians to stop believing.

As to the Original question, In my opinion it would be so evil to the current generation to reveal your proof. Imagine you have spent half your life, praying to someone you now realise does not exist, making your life worse, you can please God and be reserved a place in heaven. It's a double blow, you've wasted half your life and your life length has been shortened by infinity.

I have considered arguing about religion with my parents, but they have a hard life and I reckon it would be better if they believed God is helping them, then got all depressed about the problems they are facing.

Hell yes. Then we wouldn't have all these religious radicals going around bombing eachother claiming they will get 72 virgins or whaterver the hell else they believe in.

I most definitely would. If there was no religion, think about the world we would live in--no religious wars, no prejudice, no nutjobs leading mass suicides. It would be a much better world, so yes, I would.

Of course, you have to factor in the fact that most religious people have the amazing ability to completely disregard any logic or reason, so even if you provided irrefutable proof that a God didn't exist, they would probably believe in it anyway.

I wouldn't.

Religion, while it causes fights, also brings an untold number of people happiness.
I think more along the same lines, but more because I wouldn't want the suicides of a few billion people's lives on my concience.

Then again, I wouldn't be going to hell would I?

Probably not, no one would take it seriously, and if they did, what then? Would it make anything better?

God makes some people happy, I'm not about to take that away from them for nothing.
