If you had your own radio show, what would it be about?

I study journalism and media at a university, in Sweden. We have a student radio, where I send my own show, every other week. It can be listened to locally in the town I live, but also online.
It's mostly me talking about whatever I feel like and playing metal music. Last time I talked about the bronie subculture and MLP.

I was wondering. If you could make your own radio show, what would you want it to be like? What would you talk about? What kind of music would you play? What kind of person do you want to listen to it?

It would be mostly music. I can't think of much I'd like to talk about...

Maybe some reviews of whatever I happened to have watched/played recently.

I'd do it about mixed martial arts. Not so much about stuff like who I think is going to win the next big UFC fight, or what (*insert fighter here*) has been up to, but rather my own personal experiences with training. Why I think MMA is awesome, why I favour striking over grappling, what it's like to compete/train, etc.

As for the music, I'd play a metal/classic rock mix. Motley Crue, Metallica, Five Finger Death Punch, Judas Priest, stuff like that.

Movies and Ice Hockey. I'd share my two passions with the world, or at least with a small handful of fans on a radio station that few listen to. I would play whatever the fuck kind of music I wanted that day, though it would primarily consist of Scandinavian metal and foreign pop. Because why not?

There's a really good radio program where I live, in fact it's ranked at one of the nation's highest morning shows (well they have certain programs too). All it is though is 3 good friends just talking about whatever's on their mind. This sounds really stupid but it actually works quite well, because they're all hilarious. That' what it would mine would be about.

That's what I like about having my own show. I can do whatever I feel like. I've played some Nightwish, Sirenia and Tristania, three great Scandinavian goth bands.

I think the ones where people just talk can be really good, if they're good friends and good at improvising what to talk about.

I played only Metallica music for one show. Loved it. I plan on playing some Judas Priest too, on one of my next shows, because they're coming to Sweden for the last time ever in June.

Doctor Who.... of course.

But so much more than Doctor Who. It would be mainly Doctor Who themed though......

Maybe a bit of MLP, and Escapist stuff....

Nerd culture. Anime, manga, films, tv shows, music, video games, board games, card games, whatever.

But there's already fifty billion podcasts like that on the internet anyway

Pretty much completely metal/rock music, plus interesting facts about metal subgenres and information about bands. Whether they be old or upcoming and possibly a list of which bands are gigging in the UK and its venues. Here we get crap radio, nothing much for fans of metal or rock. Everything is based on the charts and its just so boring.

Plenty of music, and otherwise a whole heap of random shit. Just like most other radio shows. I'd think I'd go for a more Triple J slant (it's Aussie), funny but with some serious debate at times.

If I had my own radio show I don't think it would last long. It would literally just involve me ranting about whatever popped into my head. It would then be followed by me playing the most eclectic mix of music just about anyone has ever heard.

It would probably be me shouting whatever I was thinking at the time, with random songs in between.

I'm part of a radio station that has a show for under 18s, and so usually I'm on that show and we talk about stuff that's relevant to people of that age group, but I've always wanted to do a 'young people who like old music' show. All the shows about classics are all hosted by old guys and it's kind of boring to listen to them.

Well I work as a radio producer!
I used to be on-air for the evening drive, but I got a better job doing production at a much better station.

However!

If I was to go back on the air, what would my show be about?
Well that depends. If I want it to be successful in my market? Then I'll play the music, and talk about the subjects, that people in my market want to hear, and hear about. If I'm on a Hot AC or CHR station, I'm more then likely not going to be talking about what I want to talk about, since nobody will care, and the ratings will tank.

But if I've got my own internet station, or if I've got a block in just the right market? Then I'd probably discuss gaming and gaming news, as well as other nerd culture stuff (Game of Thrones, Nerd movies, cool tech, etc). Gotta talk about what you know and love, in that case.

But for now I'll keep on with my Frankie the Cab Driver. I haven't updated him in a while, but I still make a new one every week at work. I just haven't put him up here since interested waned. But it's still a blast to do!
