Lindisfarne is the actual place, it's possible the OP either misspelled the location or over the centuries the name changed from Landisfarne to Lindisfarne. It's in Northumberland a few miles south of the Scottish border, almost a small island on its own with a small connection the mainland. There is a comic book series known as "Northlanders" which I am very much a fan of.
My brother just bought the third installment in the series. This one full of short stories, of which the very first takes place in a town called "Lindisfarne", which is only one letter off from "Landisfarne".
Well, I thought it was interesting. It's a good series, I recommend it.
Edit: Whilst being English now I'm pretty sure I have some Scandinavian heritage, albeit watered down with Anglo-Saxon and later Norman genes. Then again it seems I'm a true mongrel, with red hair on my mums side of the family there's some celt in me aswell.
