If you play a low difficulty, do you ever feel ashamed?

I play games like Serious Sam on the harder difficulties for more intense action, and games like Modern Warfare on easy to follow the story easier and to get more flow.

Generally, I play on the hardest difficulty just to get a feel for the game (makes sense to me). If I like it, I'll then turn down the difficulty for the sake of actually paying attention to the story rather than the combat/fighting. If its REALLY good, I'll see if it has online and play that. If not, well then I'll play on the hardest again.

Halo, Gears, Battlefield etc. I play on the hardest difficulty, just for the challenge but something like Fallout I play on easy, just because. I probably just suck at it, though.

EDIT: I did play Bayonetta on the easy, however, because it is murder doing anything else, unless you're a cat with 3 spinal chords.

sometimes its really fun to play on easy mode, like in halo.

as for oblivion that game pisses me off if don't turn down the difficulty. I don't like having to struggle for my life or use precious items against random forest critters like trolls who offer no compensation like the humans do, and I don't like having to jump up on a rock so my piss weak archer character can kill shit. And thats just for exploring the boring world map too.

it depends i want it to be enjoyable and challenging but i don't want to be so difficult that it's not enjoyable so its a safe bet to put it on easy

No.
No I do not.

I am just trying to get through the story.
I do not want to be held back because I cannot raise my skills.

I am nearly thirty.
I just want to start and finish a good game and enjoy the time.

Being ashamed implies that I actually care about the opinion my surroundings have about my gaming.

I do find that a game isn't as fun when it offers no challenge whatsoever, but on what difficulty that is varies wildly.

EDIT: in oblivion I had the slider somewhere in the middle, mainly because the game's combat mechanics are rather... poor - I don't want to get stuck because the game sucks.

I've got no problems turning the difficulty down. Though I usually only do it if I'm playing a game just for the story or to refresh myself before a sequel comes out. I'm playing ME2 again on Casual and don't care.

If it's fun enough or lacking in challenge I'll ramp up the difficulty. That reminds me of when I tried ME2 on Insane. I quickly slid the difficulty down a little. That was ridiculous.

No problem with easy at all ... DOnt have the free time I used to and so want to get a good look at all games I play . Besides have kinda outgrown the pwning thing... prefer to have a good look around and get value for my money, if I like what I play then sure will ramp it up if I have the time for future replays.

I find easier difficulties work best with a lot of games, seeing as an increase in difficulty simply means you need to waste more ammo to down anything, or other games where it simply makes the game unbearable. That said I usually stick to normal, seeing as most games balance that fine. Any higher tends to be avoided.

I always try to play on the highest difficulty but if there is something BS or I just want to finish the game then I lower it. I never really feel ashamed if I play on the lower difficulty though.

I play on whichever difficulty I find most enjoyable. Sometimes Harcore, sometimes Beginner, sometimes somewhere in between. Really all depends on the type of game or number of playthroughs.
this to nth power. sometimes i'm hear for a challenge, other times i'm hear for a ride. i beat arkham asylum on hard, but played most of fallout 3 on easy. that fact explains my position pretty well.

I told my friend a few days ago that "If it's not a pain in the ass and incredibly annoying, it's not fun." Although, if it gets to where it's just plain frustrating, then I turn it down to something reasonable, but still moderately difficult. No shame in playing easy if it's not fun to play on harder.

I will play on the easier difficulty after I have beaten it on a harder one. If you decide to play it on a easier difficulty then that's fine with me. At least you are more focused on story.

If I enjoy the game more in easy mode, why should I be ashamed? I think people who play the harder difficulties and sacrifice their enjoyment just for the sake of saying they did the harder difficulty are the ones who should feel ashamed.

I never play on easy, I'm to proud for that. I almost never play on hard either, and just once for the first playthrough.

I never feel bothered by playing on easy.
I fail to see why I should be bothered for doing it either. Either I solely want to play for the story OR the game is too hard for me. I have never felt that something being too difficult for someone makes them less of anything. Everyone is bad at something (and I'm not that great at playing video games despite my immense love of them).

Haven't really thought about it. I play most games on Normal or Hard anyway, otherwise I just get bored, either from the lack of challenge on Easy or pure frustration of
