You know, you can't fire portals onto everything, only special walls. Which is why I don't bother thinking too much about this.

Yeah the surface has to be flat enough, non-reflective/shiny won't work either.

However if you were big enough then when you into the second portal what ever went in 1st would stop you from going on the way in because the limb(s) would be pushing out over the edge of the 2nd.

I'm pretty sure my ex-girlfriend used the portal gun on strategic locations of her body because she would just lay there. Lord knows where Mr. Tweeter wound up.

maybe that should be a gameplay mechanic in portal 2, you have enemies that you can shoot. personally id rather put a portal behind an enemy and run through it and kick their ass

You'd have Glados complain at you... and presumably start hearing the "Still Alive" song as you pass away into a gooey stain on the floor.

Quantum Information can never be lost, so the quantum information that falls into the portal will be retained.. it may be retained as a large quivering mass on the other side of the room at the portal exit or you may or you may end the night snuggling up to unicorns in an altenate dimension.. who knows

Ooh. That could be a good element to add to a later Portal game where you can make the portals larger or smaller to get into different places. Kind of like Specter Spelunker Shrinks [http://gamejolt.com/online/games/platformer/specter-spelunker-shrinks/1865/]. It could be like helping you understand the madness of GLaDOS as she's had to deal with these shifts in perspective and eventually snapped and now it's your turn or something.

It might ruin things, making the game overcomplicated or something. Like how MediEvil II wasn't enhanced by the ability to put your skull on your hand and get into tight places. But it's a nifty idea. Valve should explore it if they haven't already.

So... There's already a portal in the room... And you fire the second one on yourself.
And we're supposed to asume that you CAN, in fact, shoot a portal onto yourself.

Well, seeing as you fit through the portal, you would enter through the portal fixed onto you, exiting out of the other portal.

But what does this mean for the portal fixed onto you? Two options:

- The portal enters itself.
- The portal detaches and manifests itself without a surface.

Either way, the result is the same: a 'divide by zero' effect.
i.e. some sort of 'infinity through implosion' situation.

So the action of shooting a portal onto yourself wouldn't kill you, but it would cause the portal to malfunction and annihilate existence.

In theory :)

i'm assuming you can't go through it. its like trying to push through yourself, doesn't work.
