As an atheist I am not offended by this kind of stuff.

I am aware that there are illiterate morons in every major demographic group. Religious people are no expection of course. So this is really not about religious people vs. atheists, but rather about the fact that facebook increasingly resembles... well... what exactly?

It would be silly to assume you could not find the posts of tewnty retards to make a similar collage regarding any other topic.

They're worshipping the wrong guy. The devil is actually legit because he only killed one person.

OT: Such extremism in those FB posts (whether they are real or not).

All religions have these types, and there are atheists who have the same silly attitude. Really though, you've narrowed it down to people who watch Fox News with a straight face, what were you expecting?
This. I live with a Faux Noise worshiper...You want to know his thoughts on freedom of religion? Here's a verbatim quote for you: "Freedom of religion is bullshit. Drag them to church til they get it, at gun point if necessary. They'll thank us in eternity."

I think Christianity is dangerous. And evil. And this only helps my argument. If they're willing to tell Athiests to die, then why don't they do it. It will prove that there is no god. And I will lol that they have wasted their entire life fanatically enforcing the belief of something that doesn't exist.

I'm fine with believing in a god, but don't enforce your believe on anything or anyone else. Ever.

I'm nor completely familiar with Christianity, so I may be wrong, but isn't it considered a bad thing to harbor murderous thoughts against people?

Or course, the lawsuit is silly already.

Honestly, I just dismiss it as childish. Since people aren't concerned about grammar on Facebook, those threats lack any gravitas.
Only in theory. In the bible there are many passages about how it is allowed to rape people if they don´t believe in Yahwee, about how slavery is cool if slaves are people from other religions, and there is one passage that says that if the village next to you doesn´t coomit to God (They don´t need to not believe, they can believe but just not go to church each Sabbath - sunday, that is - and by the way, if anyone works on sabbath must be put to death according to the "Holy Book") you need to invade them, kill them all, but spare the mothers long enough so they can see their little enfants´ heads be clashed agaisnt rocks, then kill the mothers (and they dedicate an entire passage to killing pregnate women). Ya know, just go to Youtube and put NonStampCollector. Funny as Hell(ahah)

Being an atheist with occasional doubts (I was raised a christian), I generally just get irritated when people try to force their beliefs on others.

Anyway, in no part of the new testament is rape and murder justified. Its all sacrifice and forgiveness in there. Crazy religious lunatics.

Yeah! It's the best sitcom since Seinfeld! That Bill O'Reilly; what a character!!!

Anyway, these people are scum, and if you run into anyone like them, show them what a SANE and INTELLIGENT person is like. Lead by example, friends.

This just in, watching Fox news causes uncalled for violence, ignorance and stupidity from people. [/sarcasm]

I know the lawsuit about the cross statue is pretty foolish on it's own, but this is just ridiculous. I thought the ignorance and hatred people posted when Japan won the world soccer cup was bad. Can't you be sued for saying crap like that? Those are fucking death threats to a group of people based on lack of religious belief. And this is probably just the tip of the iceburg when it comes to religious lunitics.

Since this website is full of Atheists I want to hear your thoughts on the subject.
People who call themselves Christians like that... It is so sad.
I've found in my experiences in life that Atheists do harbor more hatred than normal towards some organizations, but the way those people are talking is shocking. Christ was all about loving others regardless of any other factor.

While I don't actually care because I'm not an American, but putting up a religious monument at a site of destruction that was caused by religious fundamentalism, is just plain idiotic.

I agree with the atheist who was quoted in an article about this though. They want to put a cross up to say that God is watching over the 3000 people he couldn't be bothered to save from fundamentalists of another religion? Its a cruel and disgusting joke, and I'm not laughing.

And why is it that I get the distinct impression from these updates that it is infinitely more likely that these are trolls pretending to be Christians?

I guess its because its impossible to put false information into facebook, right?

Honestly I see more "agenda" potential from atheists who wish to make Christians (lets not kid ourselves, this isnt about Jews, Hindus Buddhists, this is about Christians because really athiests seemingly dont care about any other faith than Christianity except occasionally Islam.) look evil and retarded than I see the potential for one of these Christians to spout pointless meandering hate filled garbage that essentially has no purpose.

Because, yanno, thats NEVER happened befor, right?

DAMNIT!

You know, I just remembered something that another big group of people opposed that involved Ground Zero and a religious thing...oh yeah, the fucking Mosque near Ground Zero.

Yeah, so crosses are okay, but not mosques? America, when will you wake up and smell the hypocrisy?

That's a nice peaceful religion about forgiveness and equality you've got there.

Honestly, I think before anyone can go about saying anything on the behalf of some religion or therefore lack of, they first need to take a test to ensure they meet the basic qualifications for that religion.

tbh, I don't think the original lawsuit is that silly. Not because I think that believing in God is wrong or anything, but because it would be playing right into the hands of religious extremists everywhere.

The World Trade Center attacks were an attempt by Islamic radicals to spark a holy war with the West. So by erecting a monument to it in the name of Christianity (rather than just democracy or freedom or some such) aren't we giving them exactly what they wanted. We would be making the war on terror about religion, not justice.

I think the first comment on the image conveys my feelings pretty well.

I am an atheist, I could care less about the monument. I mean sure, cross singles quite a few people out, but it is the thought that counts. When someone says "God Bless You" or something I don't freak out on them.

But anyway, ya. This is how I feel. More and more as time goes on really.

Actually That last part sounds pretty good. I'm Christian and I get sick and tired of pricks like these who give Christianity a bad name.

O.T. I counted 17 assholes in that picture. That's hardly a proper sampling of Fox New's viewership (hey someone's gotta play devil's advocate) and seeing as there are only 17 of them (which hardly qualifies for a collage) let's be intelligent and treat them like the trolls they are and pay them no mind.
