I see the hyper active, holier than thou sects of the Christian community are once again showing their true colours.

Seem's all the teachings of peace and love only apply to these people when dealing with white, middle class, Christians who go to the same church as them.

Once again, Thank God for Atheism. /irony

Honestly, I think before anyone can go about saying anything on the behalf of some religion or therefore lack of, they first need to take a test to ensure they meet the basic qualifications for that religion.
Actually That last part sounds pretty good. I'm Christian and I get sick and tired of pricks like these who give Christianity a bad name.

O.T. I counted 17 assholes in that picture. That's hardly a proper sampling of Fox New's viewership (hey someone's gotta play devil's advocate) and seeing as there are only 17 of them (which hardly qualifies for a collage) let's be intelligent and treat them like the trolls they are and pay them no mind.
Give that group a good sniff and you could probably smell the shit stains of Westborough Baptist on them somewhere.

My thoughts on these idiots. [http://dagobah.net/flash/Facepalm.swf]

I grew up in a Christian household, and while I'm not one myself, I can tell you the sane ones don't believe in this.
O.K. When I first saw that hand growing I thought that I'd officially gone too long without sleep and was starting to hallucinate. My only thought was "HOLY CRAP THAT HAND'S GROWING! IS IT GONNA GRAB ME?" I should probably go to bed. 3 cheers for insomnia.

I'm reminded of 2 of my favorite quotes of all time:

"Jesus Christ was a man that preached kindness, love, mercy, and good will towards all of mankind. More people have been killed in his name than for any other cause in human history."

and

"The pilgrims left for the New World for religious tolerance. Apparently what that means was to be able to establish a country with the most startlingly oppressive form of Christianity the world had ever seen."
You'll like this one from Mark Twain "If Christ was here today he wouldn't be a Christian."

Exactly, majority of Christians are good people, it's just ass holes like in the image that, especially amongst internet forums, can give the whole group a bad name.

Although, of course, it'd never happen, it'd just be impossible, but, still.

They're worshipping the wrong guy. The devil is actually legit because he only killed one person.
From memory he had to ask permission to do that too...

OT:

OP's post is why I get annoyed about most of the world (and generally think I am better than them, unless they are speaking in a logical way and have come to there conclusion about religion that way). It is really sad U.S. I hear about some guy who burns a copy of the Qu'ran simply because of a stereotype that is only true for a minority. This is also the Same for the Muslims and most other religions.

I am used to this now however as I go to a Christian School and got a couple of nicknames including: Dawkins Jr and Daemon.

In short It happens everywhere and by everyone. So nothing new

I have a friend who truly takes this to heart, evry time I see him he is smiling, and if you ask him why he simply answers "because I know jesus loves me", he is probably the most happy person I've ever known and the only person who have ever made me consider if religion had merit, which I then concluded it did not and I stayed atheist, or well that is at least the clostest lable known to me, since in my opinion there is no god, period, but I don't believe we have all the pieces to the puzzle yet, there are things about us and physics and the universe around us we still don't know and perhaps never will know, but I've found many atheists naive and dismissive of such things, believing as blindly in the science we have today as some christians believe in god. science once claimed everything was made out of the five elements but with a varying precentage of each element form object to object... which was kind of wrong... just a thought.
Except you can't "Believe in science". Science is not a thing that may or may not exist like god, science is a process. People do science, they don't believe in it. They can believe in the scientific method as a means of determining the "truth" or a close approximation to it. Science is not a way of life either, though you can apply principles of it to your daily life.

The Greek "elements" theory is a perfect example of the power of science. People thought it was one thing, then they realised it wasn't. No one was lynched over it (to my knowledge).

It's true though that athiests can be just as dogmatic about the lack of a god as religious people can be about the existence of one and scientists can also be dogmatic about what they think is true. History is littered with brilliant people who were mocked for opposing the consensus position. However the point is atheism =/= science and while those scientists were wrong about what they thought was true, science as a process was strengthened by the debate.

Yes, because eve since a couple of jews that, I might add, did NOT repesent their religion as a whole nailed jesus to a stake, they've generally been ultra forgiving of all jews, and muslims, and buhddists, and thier own religion if they aren't their version of christianity. Super ultra forgiving. No sarcasm intended. Really, none whatsoever. *sacasm*

stupid atheists, I hope God kills them all
This had made my day, I love it when American right-wing Christians completely misunderstand the religion they base their entire lives around.

Seriously atheists, seriously. Speaking as an agnostic, these people just crossed the line from okay to complete dicks. I mean come on.

I can totally see the connection between some people a Fox News website and the events depicted in the bible which may have happened some 2000 years ago.

Oh, Christianity...I'm not even surprised anymore.

Judging by the example OP posted, I kinda agree with Bill Hicks when he said: "If Jesus decided to come back, he'd probably carry an UZI".

Meh, it's the Internet. It's targeting atheists right now, but I'm sure you'll find the same kind of things against religious people as well. Or about anything, really. People get very emotional, typing is easier than talking, it's fast to post on facebook, etc.

I don't feel bad at all reading these comments. I don't feel like they target me. I guess many of them don't (although I don't know the details about the cross, unless it's done in a "this is the official religion" kind of way it respects religious freedom including atheism; I'm already not in their country so I don't have to get out...) but even those targeted at all atheists are obviously more targeted at what these people think of as atheists. If they met me in real life I doubt they'd try to kill me.

On the one hand I hate facebook having your real name and info out and about, on the other hand if it enables these kinds of people to be fucked by their own idiocy one day, I see a pretty distinct silver lining on it.
