A world that combines steampunk with "future sci-fi".
You would start as a random enhanced footsoldier, wielding a normal-sized longsword and an intimidating handgun. You'd fight for a kingdom, a kingdom that seeks a united world of justice.
Of course, there is an enemy empire/state/faction/whatever. Ruled by a man who was the head of that nation for as long as the people can remember.
Battling against thousands of enemies, the story continues whether on the fact that you fight well or bad.
Dying after 50% of the map is cleared will allow you to advance, though in less grace. Continuing with careless actions will end up in spiralling in more and more missions that end in your character barely surviving.
At a certain point, your character might even die before he can complete his goal.
Once you'd reach the enemy castle, not even the greatest warrior will walk away alive.
In return, you'll fight as the enemy leader. A man who lived for as long as tales were told.
He takes the damage done by the kingdom's soldier in his castle rather personal and stops the game of resistance he was playing. Now he will conquer the world!
From that point you command the legions of large mechanical spiders, battleships, etc.
You will fight along with your men, running around in a stylish suit, top hat and monocle, your sabre will cut down the pests that block your path to the kingdom.
I'm still not sure how the gameplay would be, I want epic battles against large machines (possibly copying some parts from Shadow of the Colossus), "level ups", hack and slash elements, etc.
You should be able to command the meat shields around you, because getting ganged up by a few hundred soldiers can't possibly end very well.
The world should be somewhat bright, cel-shaded seems a good choice. No anime style, though.
Characters will talk in a fancy language but "Dear gods what were they thinking -dialogues" will be avoided.
The heroes will be as heroic as possibly, and the villains rather twisted.
Farewell happy ending because everybody dies!
