If the evil genie Hypothetical appeared and told you bad news champ, you are limited to one game series forever. Its the only thing past present and future you can play.

Rules. Mainly numerical equals but spiritual successors count to, systemshock--->bioshock

So what do you go for? Sports game like Madden that's pretty much guaranteed to get "new" iteration every year but with little change? Do you go for a massive series with lots of content, like Final Fantasy, or Mega Man?

I am leaning towards Zelda...but I reserve the right to change my mind after others make me feel silly for forgetting something awesome.

Remember you must look to the future as well to gauge how much content will come and how often.

I'll have to go with Mega Man. Plenty of games to already play and I can brush up on my reaction/memorization skills.

MegaTen.

Everything inside the franchise counts. Why? Because in the English localizations, they slap Shin Megami Tensei on all of it. Digital Devil Saga, Persona, Devil Summoner, everything.

[sub]Plus the main-series titles aren't half bad either, from what I've seen.[/sub]

Grand Theft Auto.

Cause I'll be mad as hell about it and would take out my frustration ingame. Forever.

Close second would probably be Assassin's Creed.

Yeah, I would go with either GTA or Saints Row. There are other game series I like better, but if it came to playing the same series forever then, a) these series are guaranteed new iterations while other games I like aren't being made anymore or don't have that many games, b) there is so much content that I would be able to play these games for ever and not get bored, and c) I've already beaten every game in most of my favourite series' of all time and beaten them so many times that I know it like the back of my hand. I haven't played every single GTA game, so I'd be more in favour of that.

The NBA 2k series.

I've never been dissapointed by them and I always enjoy good sports games.

Guild Wars. Hands down.

The original was pretty awesome, and Guild Wars 2 looks incredible. I just wish they'd hurry up and take my money already...

Ninja'd but same, nd you get all the bells and whistles they have in japan that you may not see in America (P2: Innocent Sin, I see you finally made your way here).

Probably gonna have to go with the GTA series.

That or Elder Scrolls.

Not because they're my favourite, but because you can get so much game out of them.

Total War
Plenty of games, a decent amount of variety and challenge. I do enjoy the mix of RTS and turn-based. It's successful enough to keep the installments coming.

Does user generated content come into play? Cause I mean if it does I would go for something like Elder Scrolls. If not then probably Mega Man. Mega Man games are among my favorite and they have a variety. There is the general side scrolly shooter that most of them have, but then there is stuff like the Battle Network series and Legends. Also can't forget that one Mega Man Soccer Game, oh and a Racing Game! Both of which I would probably never play... but you know, options.

OH DUH! How could I forget Little Big Planet! If we can have user generated content then you basically get anything and everything with Little Big Planet.

Metal Gear.

Good number of games, some of my favorite gameplay, and one of my favorite narratives of any medium. It's basically the Illiad and the Odyssey with Nukes.
