I would basically have the power of Peter Petrelli pre-Season 3. That is, to take people's powers and keep them permanantly. Post-Season 3 his power just got crap

Anyway, if that wasn't possible I'd go for the whole super senses thing PROVIDED I COULD CONTROL THEM. Anyone read that Cracked article about why science ruins all the cool powers? Take a look. It'll be quite informative to most people. Assuming we could get round those, of course, super senses and telekinesis would be great. Telepathy would be awesome too, and just because she's awesome I'd love Kitty Pryde's power (phasing through solid matter).

Being able to... nah I can't tell u all that. I'm writing a book that twists the ghost story/sci fi genres in a way that is just awesome. (I think so anyways.) U will have to read it an find out...
Other than that, I'd go for some fairly low key mutation/powers/watever. Mind reading, future seeing kinda things that are easy to disguise.

How does tactile telekinesis work, exactly?

It's not specifically moving things with the mind. By examining the etymology you find, tele = distant (or possibly distance) and kinetic = to move, so you get "to move distant" or to moves things that are distant from the human body, you can achieve this with the mind or an exterior physical manipulation,
