Well you read the title(presumably) what'd be?

For me a resource based game where your best defense would be running away, you could make shelters and had to supply yourself with food and water, oh and disease and limb damage would be nice.

I'd like an open world Zombie game. A mix between Dead Rising and GTA where you actually feel threatened rather than amused when you see thousands of them stumbling around.

You'd need resources to survive, to build your own safe-houses, create paths to get around over blockades etc. You only get as many weapons as you can carry and as much ammunition as you can scrounge.

*sighs* Game developers should hire me as an idea man.

I'd like to develop on yours, with the whole build stuff area, work it like Gmod, but the size of the object you build indicates a price, you can avoid prices by going out and scavenging? ^_^ It would really need Multiplayer capabilities, with good (And by that I don't mean tin can and rope) voice chat. It would be pretty epic, get your money from Zombie Kills etc. Make Automated Sentries using a Wiremod Esque tool (simplified ofc)

Open world. Your not safe anywhere. Resources are stretched thin. You can loot stores and such. I may or may not add hunger, but that might just take away the fun.

Hunger would probably lessen the fun factor for some, but would seriously up the survival aspect. And it would encourage more scavenging about.

That would be... Very, very awesome. I would so play something like that.

Um... Yeah, I'd probably go for something like this, as the idea is pants-shittingly awesome.

If I was to make a survival horror, the survival part would be equal to the horror. Not in an MGS3 sort of way, more along the lines of trying to make it feel like the world is truly against you: utter isolation. Yummy.

Role-reversel

Play as a lone alpha zombie, hiding in the shadows and slowly contaminating the population whilst avoiding the goernment, with the eventual final mission of storming the whitehouse

All of the above. That would be pretty sweet. Would be cool if you had to improvise your weapons, find gas for chainsaws and stuff like that. I also think it would be scarier and more immersive if it was 1st person.

I want to make one that replicates the claustrophobia of movies like Alien, Night of the Living Dead, or Signs. Kind of like this:

You have one house, moderately sized, on about 2 acres of land. You can go anywhere on the property and in the house (wood shed, drainage pipes, crawlspaces, basement, etc.), you can use any and all of the objects and resources (electricity, tools, running water, gas, maybe a gun). The entirety of the game will take place at night during some sort of supernatural apocalypse (not entirely sure about the details of that yet).

To add a bit of tension, you will have a child that you need to protect. They aren't like a little sister or anything weird like that, they are yours.

The chapters are divided as events that will happen that you have to face. Not all of them have to do with monsters or things like that, but of the people in the surrounding community freaking out; rioting looters, a family that had been attacked by a monster earlier that needs your help (moral choices abound!).

The main point of the game is to allow the player to get comfortable in the setting and very slowly inject the antagonizing problems. The house is theirs; in the beginning I want there to be a little freedom for customization. Character customization would also come into play with the child as well. The child's role is key to the narrative and to the character that the player is playing as. The player character is a first person silent protagonist.

Sandbox with a linear level progression or "areas" that were lighter on zombie infestations then others that the player would obviously be compelled to migrate to.
Add in some sort of over reaching goal, such as meeting up with family members and common zombie survival area (the mall, highschool, a hospital, etc). Have a party system where you can recruit or tag along with groups going the same while customizing your own zombie hunting gear,.
The game would suck terribly but it'd something I'd love to play.

I'd make it more survival than horror, perhaps set in a city that's been devastated by an earthquake, where resources are scarce and OH WAIT

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Am_Alive

...if they'll hurry up and release the bloody thing at some point before it becomes Duke Nukem For(n)ever.

good idea id do the same but make some random bits like the final escape really difficult depending on how you played up to that point.

There has been an outbreak of a certain bioweapon that keeps brainfunction intact after death. I.E.: zombies.

All cities have walls to keep zombies out. Traveling goes with armored busses with gunturrets and imune elites to guard them, always in teams of 2. The imunes are those who were infected, but did not die.

You are one of the imune guards. You are with only a handfull. You have no choice: you are the only hope at a normal life. You start of traveling as a guard. When you come to the next city, things go down the crapper and there's a breach in the wall. Apperently the zombies are gradualy getting smarter. The found ways to use weapons against you. Busses get blown up, all people killed and absorbed in the ranks of the dead. You protect the city, wall is repaired temporarily, things appear safe. Then a bus sends an alarm.

You are sent to help a fallen bus. You go out in a armored jeep, arive at the site, and see horifying things. People are being torn to shreds, eaten and raped.

YES, RAPED!

The smarter zombies are generation 2 zombies. They need live women to reproduce. The men are killed of on instant. Since there's nothing left to save, you kill of the newly infected, then return to base.

At the base a signal has been picked up: a town has been invaded. You and some more teams set out to the city, arrive too late and find only zombies. In the townhall you find some papers on zombie behaviour. One of the papers describes the evolution of newer generations of zombies.

There are people who know more. You and your group set out to the lab where the papers came from to learn more. That's when stuff get's rolling. There are some scientists alive. They declare that the head of the zombiedepartment has gone mental and has been making the "perfect zombie". He is the one that impregnated the first woman with zombie-altered DNA.

This guy left with an armored bus and a pod with something in it. He busted through the doors and let all the zombies in.

You travel from town to town in a sandbox-fashion. You gain new weapons, bio-upgrades(NO BULLET-TIME!) and improve your vehicle. The story folows the path of the scientist. Why, how and where. The sandboxing consists of favors, going to facilities/houses outside the walls retrieving stuff and finding out wtf is going on.

Idea is that your teammate can be controled army-of-two-style. The vehicle can be driven in any position. Multiplayer is an option.

Might be a bit stupid, but in my head it looks awesome. Destroyed cities, forrests, no sewers, military bases, awesome vehicles, great weapons, multiple kinds of zombies, mixed breeds of zombie-animals...
Aww, the ideas, the ideas...

I would not allow any weapons. Ever. Basically, the Clocktower games, but less restricting/ more spontaneous.

The Lost In Blue games do that. And they're annoying as hell because of it.

This sounds like a very long escort mission. Otherwise the game doesn't sound like a bad idea but having to protect some kid for the entirety of the gameplay sounds very frustrating. The only thing I can think of is have the kid hide every time a monster appears while you bash it's head in.
Also, why a silent protagonist? Mass Effect style dialogue options sound like they'd fit right in.
