Second level of Thief 2, in the caves with the zombies. Remove the holy water, set it in a desert during the old west, get the player a horse, a wagon and a sack for food, and add a cute cast of nice stereotypes with a twist each.

Done.

To add a bit of tension, you will have a child that you need to protect. They aren't like a little sister or anything weird like that, they are yours.
This sounds like a very long escort mission. Otherwise the game doesn't sound like a bad idea but having to protect some kid for the entirety of the gameplay sounds very frustrating. The only thing I can think of is have the kid hide every time a monster appears while you bash it's head in.
Also, why a silent protagonist? Mass Effect style dialogue options sound like they'd fit right in.
I would definitely have something like that. Something similar to what they did with Pandora in God of War 3. It was an escort mission, but it was actually a lot less painful than I thought it would be. I hate escort missions as well. I intended the child to be more of an emotional prop to create tension within the narrative than a "glassware NPC" that you need to keep from getting broken.

As for the silent protagonist, I guess that was just a lame decision to make the game seem more personal, but I guess actually having a crafted character like Shepard in Mass Effect would work too. It's just more writing on my part lol.

The game is completely online only, you get to customize your character down to their stats and what they wear. You and fifteen other people are stranded in a small urban town in the middle of a zombie attack. You have three hours (three days and nights game time 30 min=to half a day) to survive and make it to an escape route designated on the last day. There is a scoring system and being a dick is not encouraged, if you leave a person who is near you and facing down only a few zombies you will have points deducted for not moving towards their position, and points awarded for helping them or at least trying (this is assuming they are out of ammo or have directly requested help). In the last ten minutes you are shown a position on your mini map, you must make it to that position in under ten minutes or you fail, if you all get there too early the zombies will move towards there and the location may move, so timing is critical. During the daylight hours you are encouraged to rest as there is a fatigue meter, but the zombies are less active making it a good time to scrounge for weapons and ammo. As you play and earn points you can purchase upgrades to stats and special weapons. I came up with this idea one day about half a year ago with a buddy of mine, and it still stands as the best zombie idea we ever came up with.
Apart from the online aspect that is a very good game i would play and enjoy.

How bout a game not involving zombies. How about your a vampire being hunted down and you have to use various powers to hide and kill those who give chase, at first you start out being chased by just regular humans and later they turn into aliens who have all sorts of new ways to find you. You could have been a regular person who was being experimented on by the aliens and they turned you into something similar to a vampire.

An open world zombie game where you start in the middle of an infested city and you need to escape. There would of course be very little ammo available and most of the game would be stealth based. It would obviously have a very good(creepy) sound track and actually having to confront the enemy would bring fear to your heart. Shooting guns would attract the infected but most of them will be slow enough that you can hide before they actually show up.

Here's a rough idea/ trailer

i'd set the game in Midieval Australia

you are a Knight from England that is leading an expedition to the newly discovered landmass

Charachter creation is on the boat, all charachters call you by either Sir or Madam

the first three days in camp everything goes well (tutorial)

on the 4th day you and 3 others you pick from the randomly generate crew go scouting

you return later that night to find your entire team massacred

while examining the wreckage you find a man savagely cut in half

he is nearly dead

he only has the time to tell you, "The legends were true...."

he then dies and out of his lifeless hands falls a book he brought from home

a book you had seen many times before, a book with a dragon on the cover...

you know this book details all the legends of the Homeland

and how to kill the monsters detailed within

you then here a rustling in the nearby brush and a low snarl emanates

the screen then goes black with a red forest and a beach with the word "Forsaken"

that is the end of the trailer

you guys like?

No zombies.
Characters with the physical abilities of an actual person (none of this Resident Evil can't-run-with-a-knife bs).
A seemingly realistic setting which grows gradually more surreal as you explore it.
Nothing telling you where to go next. Ever.

You are soldier in the second world war, and shortly before a massive firefight begins, zombies attack. Only few men of your division and of your enemy's division survive, and you have to team up and stick to gether in order to survive.
In the first segment of the game it's some kind of survival shooter where you can command your old and new allies. You have to keep the moral of your troop up, take care of the wounds, look for ammo supplies and make you're way from way point to way point.

Later it get's some rts element, and you and your mates have to conquer important areas around the world in order to prepare the war against the undead.

If I made a Survival Horror game, it would look a little something like this. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.182918-Armchair-Game-Design-The-Bailey-Manor-Project#5448583]

Setting: You work aboard a deep space mining station. The nearest colony is six months of space travel away. The station is old, but functional. Very spartan and utilitarian.

Your character: You are Steven Macintosh, a foreman. You are the standard working man. You are here on a six-year tour, on which you will make enough money to support you and your family back home for the rest of your lives. You are tough and simple, but fairminded and industrious. You are a good boss to those that work under you, and a pain in the ass to management due to your involvement in the union.

Things are getting strange out here...: You had injured yourself in an altercation with a man who had gone a little overboard due to cabin fever. You spent the last 48 hours in a healing tank to tend to your wounds. You awake with a start, the fluid drains from the tank, and you are left alone in the med bay. Something is wrong. There are signs of violence everywhere. No people or bodies, but blood is everywhere, and objects are strewn about all over the place. You venture forth to see just what the hell is going on...

Game concept: This is a survival game in the vein of something like Fallout 3. You move around the station, looking for survivors and supplies, raiding stores of food, medical supplies, and improvising weapons out of materials you find. The people on the ship have been going crazy, screaming about hell, mutilating themselves and others, and generally being viciously murderous and torturous to other survivors. Some sane people have walled themselves away in the mess hall, and can provide safety, but there are other factions of sane survivors saying the other groups are crazy. It's up to you which group you believe, and which one you will join in your bid to get the hell off this blasted station.

As the game goes on, and you run into more and more psychopaths, you begin to hallucinate slightly. How you react to these hallucinations (as well as how you treat other survivors, good and bad) determines your decent into madness or discovery. Are the people on the ship just crazy, or is there some REAL demonic influence driving people to these acts of horror? Only you can reveal the truth.

I'd like an open world Zombie game. A mix between Dead Rising and GTA where you actually feel threatened rather than amused when you see thousands of them stumbling around.

You'd need resources to survive, to build your own safe-houses, create paths to get around over blockades etc. You only get as many weapons as you can carry and as much ammunition as you can scrounge.

*sighs* Game developers should hire me as an idea man.
you, find any friends with competent programming abilities and any money you can beg, NOW!

anyway, you are in a city, a normal, still functioning city, but you have to fight some kind of silent hill-ish monsters using the environment around you.

I'd like to develop on yours, with the whole build stuff area, work it like Gmod, but the size of the object you build indicates a price, you can avoid prices by going out and scavenging? ^_^ It would really need Multiplayer capabilities, with good (And by that I don't mean tin can and rope) voice chat. It would be pretty epic, get your money from Zombie Kills etc. Make Automated Sentries using a Wiremod Esque tool (simplified ofc)
OMG I thought that was my idea :p

Well, it would be about survival (ya know, everyday survival rather than being a rambo..actually, the player would be very opposite.. a normal joe average), and it would be horrible (in whatever way it fits).

It would involve zombie apocalypse.

It would reward smart thinking, cleverness, and stealth, and teamwork (for multiplayer) rather than charging in the middleof the horde gun blazings like L4D.

My survival horror would have naked zombie chicks with, like, totally sweet boobs. And like, they'd be normal killer zombies, but they'd be the slow kind, not the fast, infected, 28 days later zombies. These zombie chicks would be fairly fresh so you could still make them have killer racks (pun intended). And it would be a melee only game with 1 pistol hidden in each level. This game would have new types of weapons (not the played out baseball bat, knife/machete, frying pan). I'd have like, light sabers, dogs that you could unleash, a big boot that you could put on to kick them with, darts to throw into their heads, and a hand-scythe. It would be rad.
You know what else would be rad? Instead of them being the slow moving variety, they should be running zombies BUT the game is constantly in bullet time. Like, bay watch zombies.

You come home after a wild party and go straight to bed.

When you wake up and go outside, everyone is gone. It is nice and sunny, but you are completly alone. All the doors are wide open, letting you explore any house. It is like everyone just got up and left, without any sign of struggle. So you start to go to town, trying to find out what has happened.

This game isnt going to be supernatural, it would be more like a conspiracy. Maybe some supernatural, since many conspiracies have those types of things.
