You are completely right. While I enjoyed all but the game that shall not be mentioned in polite society (2), I think the changes were a bit too... radical. That isn't Dante. I don't see how anyone would take that as the amazingly awesome bad-ass that was Dante, Son of Sparda. I honestly feel this is the spiritual successor to Devil May Cry 2.
