Open a portal in my room and give it to my girlfriend to open one in hers. We've always said that it would be awesome.

Otherwise, I'd open one in my backyard and another at the university. Then I could get there in 2 minutes instead of the 40-60 it takes with the bus. That would free up about 2 hours of time EVERY DAY.

My plan would start with the first Portal being in an air tight room, with a large door being the only way out. Then I have NASA send me to wherever I need to be, the moon, Mars, some odd asteroid heading for Earth. I then activate the second portal and return to the room, go through the door to a small hallway with another door to avoid the entire facility being blown out into space. And bam, we have instantaneous travel without the need for lightspeed vessels. Well except in the case of Mars, but even then when we get there, it will never take forever again.

Hmm, first I'd use it, to get to school and later to university faster and without any transportation costs. The idea of the perpetuum mobile is not that good.

p = m * h* g * f (mass, height, gravitation constant (around 9.81 m/s²), frequence (how often does the whole water pass the portal per second)
also the generator doesn't get 100% of this power and the process is limited by a max velocity of falling water and the area of one portal

I'd prefer setting one portal in Europe, another one in the US and then charging around 10 dollars for going through.
