If you would have access to Portal's portal gun what would you do with it?

Rob a bank. Get some friends, guns, masks, and take hostages. No need to go fast top get out before the cops show up, just have portal A set up at home, and open portal B right before you extract with the money. SWAT will rush into an empty bank and find confused hostages and in turn become confused. Easy as pie.
Make a portal in my house, and one in my girlfriend's house, who lives in Paris. No more travel costs wooo!
I think if it was me, and this wasn't a Fallout style RPG, I'd hand it over to some very smart and talented people to see if they could replicate the technology.
However, if this WAS a Fallout style RPG, I guess I'd go robbing banks, use it to evade the various armed guards and civilans heading after me, make people fall of very tall things, etc, etc...

set up one end of the portal where it's cheap to live, and the other end where I actually want to live!

Lots of people seem to be ignoring the 'you have to be able to see [or directionally shoot at] where you want both ends of the portal' rule... I suppose for some you could put one end where you are starting from and travel the normal way to the other to set a portal there, but I guarantee someone's going to notice a giant hole in the wall/floor. It's therefore not that useful for travel cross-town or cross-continent, especially if you're going to be chaining them. You could probably use the set one and go to the other principle for a bank robbery getaway, but you better hope that you can reset the second portal before the cops follow you through, lol.
I would shoot one down when I was directly over the mariana trench (or else make an oil rig and shoot it down the pipes to the bottom, if you want to say it doesn't go through water), and calculate the direction and angle to shoot one up at the moon... and then confuse the hell out of people when the oceans disappear and there is water on the moon. Some giant whale or something might be able to block the hole though... *sadface*
