If you're left-handed, you're prone to schizophrenia.

Well, that... explains quite a bit.
I'm left-handed, and for years, I would hear a random voice call my name every once in a blue moon. Then again, that's really all I ever hear in my head. Does hearing just one thing still count as schizophrenia?
if its not your original voice then yes

According to Yahoo Asnwers if you're right OR left handed you're schizophrenic.

By the way I'm diagnosed with it so its okay for me to crack jokes about it ;)
Two questions: 1.What about the ambidextrous?2. Is it okay if I ask what having schizophrenia is like?

The post as a joke at all the 'omg am i schizo?" posts on yahoo answers, made by preteen girls trying to be unique and totally random lessthan3 XDDDD

Its like hearing voices in your head, except you can't control what they say. Sometimes they can be intrusive thoughts you don't want, sometimes it can be a 'friendly voice'.

I'm a righty and I hear voices (generally my Mother's) screaming my name so loudly it pierces my ear and causes physical pain. Not schizophrenia just wierd.

Hang on, lemme crunch some numbers here.

30% of schizo populace is left-handed.
60% of whole populace is genetically left-handed but only half (30% whole populace) actually do things left handed.

So if 30% of the whole populace is actually lefty in practice, and 30% of schizos are lefty, I think that is a rather expected correlation.

But if you meant genetically lefty people, then you'd expect about 60% of all schizos to be lefties, but if it's only 30%, then actually it sounds like being a righty makes you more likely to go schizo.

Sorry but those numbers kind of said the exact opposite of what Watson claimed. But I guess in a strict sense, yes, lefties are prone to schozophrenia, just like righties and ambidextries and non-...um...dextries are. And just like people are prone to getting shot. Yeah. Sorry, math proves the supposition in the initial post wrong, or I just proved that I didn't learn how to read. One of those. Likely the former, I hope. Either way, Watson's statement here is the same as saying "51% of all humans are women. And guess what, 51% of all depression patients are women!! OH MY GOD BEING A WOMAN MAKES YOU MORE PRONE TO DEPRESSION!!!"

I am a schizo, and im right handed.
Quit lying. Why would you openly admit to having a disorder as serious as that just like that?
Oh, im terribly sorry. I should be ashamed for having that disorder.

Look dude, im not ashamed of being an asshole, im not ashamed of being ugly, and I am sure as hell not ashamed for having a disorder.

Logic tells me I dont need to feel shame for things I cant change. So STFU and quit being an idiot. Fucking ****.
Calm down, mate. Could've just corrected me instead of acting like a moron. Even though I still don't believe you.

What did you expect? You couldve just kept it to yourself that you dont believe me. Im not gonna go through life hiding that fact.
I don't know any self-respecting person with Schizophrenia that calls them self a schizo out of the blue. Maybe you think you do or maybe you're just an oddball.

So, you feel someone does not have schizophrenia because they shortened it to schizo?

If there are 100 people (according to this data):

60 are left-handed
40 are right-handed

Let's say that 50 are schizophrenic. So 30% of them are left-handed (according to data):

15 left-handed people are schizophrenic
35 right-handed people are schizophrenic

Therefore this data proves you are more likely to be schizophrenic if you are right-handed, not left.
The logic is sound, but it is not correct. The way these things are done is that they take a sample size from both sides, say 100 right handed people and 100 left handed people, find out how many from each group is schizo, then compare the results. All the report says is 45 out every 100 left handed people could be schizophrenic. The number I have states that 2.4 percent of the population could be schizo, so 2 out of every hundred for right handed people.

Your conclusion, that more right handed adults are schizo, is correct but for entirely different reasons. Right handed adults are more likely to schizophrenic because there are more of them than us. 10-15 percent of the U.S. population is left handed. 2.4 percent of adults are schizophrenic, so in our current population of 300 million, that means 7.2 million adults have schizophrenia. 720,000 - 1,080,000 left handed people are schizo.

As for me, I do not have schizophrenia. I hear voices sometimes, but I know that all adults do that from time to time. No my main thing is that I have major depression. The major depression has caused me to have some very dark and disturbing thoughts from time to time.

Ask away, I figure this is a better way to learn than by looking on a site like wikipedia.

Not just that but, yes, it makes me believe so.
