And all this over SOCCER?! WE CANADIANS DON'T EVEN FLIP OUT LIKE THAT OVER HOCKEY!! AND WE FREAKIN LOVE HOCKEY!!
No offense, but didn't you guys nearly destroy a city after losing the Stanley Cup?
Really? It was THAT bad? I was under the impression that the riots had been bad, but I never got the impression it was a total disaster of human hatred.

Then again, I live on the complete other end of the country (Montreal), so maybe that's why I didn't get the full picture of how bad it was over there.

Faith in humanity: - everything i had left%

Seriously, what's the point in anything? If for every victory, everyone's going to try to bring you down, why bother?

All that over a soccer game?!? I don't see the point in going beserk over a sports game. There is alwasy next year. I wanted to see the San Jose Sharks win the Stanly Cup but when Vancouver knocked them out I didn't go on facebook and post "f*&king Canadians" cause they have another chance at the title next year. It's sensless and it just make you look like an asshole posting stuff like that even if it is meant to be funny.

Knowing the internet, this is just as easily manipulated to look worse than it is. It's a collaboration, and we have no way of knowing just how common or uncommon it is based on a loose collection of incidents. None of my friends ever made a joke like that, and these people are probably the kind of people I'd make fun of anyways.
Besides, what country hasn't had people go batshit-insane over sports at some point?
I'm not saying that it's okay to say things like that, but I do think that we are, yet again, letting the minority be the spokespeople for the majority.

Look at the message by Grant Jahns near the upper right corner. He's suggesting that the USA bombs Japan again. Just...just...wow. People can be so fucking petty and stupid sometimes.

All that over a lost sports game...
I'm not sure whether to laugh at their stupidity, or weep because they honestly think like that. This is one moment where I really think these people should go the darwin route.

Right, I forgot, America is the only country on Earth that has stupid people in it.
It's okay, we can't all be blessed with perfect recollection.
See, the funny thing is, you just proved my point.

Can you not see the irony here?
I find the irony that you're defending outright hatred, against made-up threats to be more than enough, thanks.
And that's what I was talking about. Why am I supposed to assume that you weren't serious, but that everyone in that picture was? They were both talking about killing like it was a perfectly reasonable and just thing to do, yet yours is a joke and theirs is "outright hatred".

I mean, there was some obvious hatred there, but some people were just saying "Well, we blew you up! Nyaaah!". It's so ridiculous that I suspect that it was intended, more often than not, as a really messed-up joke.

There are no winners in a war.

And besides that, most of those people are just trolling to get a reaction, because their meaningless personality does not get reactions otherwise. Or that is what I say to myself. Otherwise we truly are doomed.

There is direct link to the image on ... third (?or close) post in this thread. Or just right click and usually something like "show image" on nearly every browser.

Oh yeah. I forgot about that. I don't use facebook much. I could just as easily go with sports = stupid. The worst part, as someone else mentioned earlier, is that Americans are actually far from the worst offenders when it comes to sports fan idiocy.

To put it short; Almost. But who said that the people who posted this on facebook are rednecks and ignorant fools? I'll let you in on a secret.

98% of the people who posted those things?

Are kidding around.

You've been trolled. By quite a few people. On Facebook.

Indirectly.

That's quite an accomplishment.
"Trolling"? I wonder who they were trying to troll? I doubt they have many Japanese people on their Facebook, nor for that matter a lot of people who would generally take offence from it. Trolling is really just a convenient excuse.

That said; America has a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge amount of people who are very undereducated on what in other parts of the western world seem to be known by near the 100% bar (assuming you're actually an average person who just finished his education). Things like: Where is the U.S. on the map? The value of pi. How Israel was founded. What the long term effects are of eating junk food daily. The virtue of avoiding debt and credit cards.
The scary thing, to me, is that you might actually believe what you just wrote here.
A third of Americans can't point to the U.S. on a world map - this was uncovered by american researchers non-the-less. In the European curriculum you can expect to re-do a year if you after a whole year still don't know that the U.S is the middle bit on the North-American continent. So yeah, I do actually believe that statement. Deal with it. dealwithit.jpg
The obesity one is sadly becoming more and more true for Europe as well. Damn American influence. >_<

You're right though; there will be ignorance and assholes wherever you go. I just find that the vocal majority of them seem to be American.
And I find that an awful lot of Europeans are intolerant bigots who look for any excuse they can find to hate America.

Or do I?

Hmmm.

I could just be feeding into negative stereotypes of Europeans that are common among ignorant Americans. You know, kinda like you're feeding into negative stereotypes of Americans that are common among ignorant Europeans.
Some stereotypes are common for a reason.

I don't really know what the curriculum in the U.S. covers, but I'm pretty sure it goes along the lines of:
"-We won WW2. Single Handedly, obviously. The Europeans were defenceless. By the way. The capital of Europe is France, and they have the Queen of England on the throne.
-Pearl Harbour was an act of evil from the Japs and there was nothing we could have done to defend ourselves from this demonic evil - not even lift the radio silence so we could warn them about the incoming attack that we knew about for more than 24 hours.
-We won the Vietnamese war. Totally. That was just a tactical retreat to... y'know... stuff.
-Oh! And we won the Civil war. Definitely! And, yeah, it totally counts as a victory to us - and it doesn't matter that we fought against ourselves!"

It's interesting to think that the U.S. has actually not ever won a war. They're good at getting into them though. Must be some younger-brother complex.
So you generalize American education based upon some backwater redneck morons viewpoints? Since we're assuming things here, I'm going to go ahead and go along the lines of saying that you think that every American is in league with these rejects, am I right?

Back on topic: Wherever you go there will stupid people with stupid comments to make. Wherever you are in the world. But please people, don't group the majority of Americans with the minority of ignorant jackasses.
To put it short; Almost. But who said that the people who posted this on facebook are rednecks and ignorant fools? Looking back I apologize for my rather hasty reply. I get somewhat defensive when people lump all Americans together. But I digress.
No need to apologise. :)

Amerifats? "Stay classy"? It's like I'm really on 4chan!
Well, it's where the image in the OP came from in the first place. While the title is just there in an ironic sense because that's what a lot of people seem to think what this thread is about.

EDIT: perhaps I should've removed the whole "Stay classy, America" line before posting it here, but too late for that now.
