Hell, I go above and beyond that. I have about a bazillion batteries in my junk drawer and a magical vegetable crisper that hasn't fall below 40 beers in months......(and office supplies).

Final Fantasy (#1 is the only one I've ever played): What's that? 99 Health Potions? Can't spare one...may need it later.

Pokémon: I've never used a single Ether, Elixer, or Rare Candy (other than the Missingno glitch, of course), because, well, I might need them later!

Bioshock: So what if that electric goop can kill a Big Daddy without it ever getting a chance to hurt me? Dammit, I might need that stuff later!

Basically the only game in which I use anything ever, is Diablo 2, in which I drink Full Rejuvs like water. Hoarding is a horrible habit, I know, but I always do it.

I usually horde for the last bosses. i remember i beat resident evil 5 with around 30 magnum rounds, at least. i killed the last boss in about 8 shots, probably less. it just seemed wasteful.

im really bad about that in rpgs too. ill run back and retreat through multiple areas to a save point before i'll use a rare item to heal up.

The CAIN was a ridiculous waste of ammunition...
I had like, 26 grenades for the grenade launcher. Then I switched it out for the CAIN.
Only had one fucking shot for the CAIN.

I love to use my most powerful item on the most defenseless enemy, so i'm not the kind on guy that saves ammo.
For example, i love to launch mini nukes on scorpions in Fallout3.

The only game where i was forced to save everything i had was Resident Evil 4.

So many, many things. Normally it's the consumables. At least in Pokemon I could sell them.

I horde stimpaks and ammo in fallout 3, but the only ammo i use is the chinese assault rifle ammo and the 308 ammo, so i put all the 10mm, shotshells, and any other weak ammo in the ammo maker in the pitt, make 1000 rounds of each, and call it good=)

The funny thing is, i was a nice guy the first time through, and i ran out of stimpaks in the mothership, but when i restarted, i was pure evil, and now i have hundreds of the dang things...

There is a solution to all this. Go out and buy any of the Ratchet and Clank games. See how long you will last with hoarding your weapons.

I still say Going Commando is the best in the series. The Mini Nuke people!

I noticed that hoarding wasn't the best strategy about 15 minutes in . . . but couldn't bring myself to use the ammo. Good thing it was on a friend's PS2 and I never bought the game, or it would've gone to waste. Nothing can break my habit.

I have a problem with this, but I tend to come at it from the opposite direction. See, I find a weapon I like and stick with it. I prefer honing my skills with a single tool rather than learning how to use the whole kit. I get to the point where I can deal with pretty much anything with that one weapon or tactic, and I get obsessive about only using that so that I get better with it.

Because I usually get enamored with the basic weapon/tactic/character in this way, I end up finishing most games with truckloads of everything valuable. I always liked the image of returning to base, actually:

"Welcome back, soldier. Great work. Kit up for the next mission."

"Nah, I've still got a few clips for the pistol. Oh, here. I found a bunch of fusion packs, rockets, chaingun drums, needler clips, EMP mines, thermal grenades, mortars, flamer fuel, shotgun shells, explosive arrows, shrink ray batteries, airstrike beacons, bug grenades, plasma bottles, mininukes, shurikens, and lightning just lying around. It's all kind of heavy, could you take it off my hands?"
I like to think they just point me at well-equipped enemies to replenish the armory.

I usually tend to keep the "heavy artillery" for battles I can't get past with normal shooties, once I die about 2 or 3 times then it's time to nuke the site, it's the only way to be sure. Mass Effect 2 is a good example, I never ever used the heavy guns, except when the buggers really started to piss me off.
Also, the huge Reaper in the last mission. I had a nuke launcher and when he popped up I knew exactly how to put it into good use, one shot into the eye took down 75% of its health :p

Well I do tend to hoard a lot in games.
In Oblivion at a point I had a constant at least 4 melee weapons; 1 one handed blunt, i one handed blade, 1 two handed blunt and of course a claymore.

In gun games I tend to hoard the best guns for when I ABSOLUTELY MUST use them, I like having an ace in the hole, especially when it has epic results

I do this a lot in Pokemon. When I'm in the Pokemon League, and I want to use a hyper potion, I'm always like what if a need it later. And if I do need it, I think what if I need it even later and need it even more!

Kudos to those who get the reference.

Damn, I hate the feeling when I notice I've beaten a game and realise I only used the basic assault rifle+pistol/equivalent for the entire game because "I was saving the sniper ammo for later" or something like that.

I always horde Potions and Ethers for the Elite Four in my Pokemon games. So what if I have to battle that gym leader 20 times? So be it!

I always do that. I never use my big expensive weapons unless I really need to, but the thing is I rarely need to. So it's mostly just a waste of my time.

Yeah, I'm a hoarder as well. I'll hold on to anything if I think I might have the slightest chance I have to use it. If it's not really that important (i.e. armor that you don't need anymore), I'll wait until I can try and "sell" it, if that option is available in the game.
