So for the next 3 nights, IBM's supercomputer Watson will be going up in Jeopardy against people. How will he fare? If this is any indication, pretty damn good..

Skynet anyone?

Edit: First episode Part 1 Part 2

It should have been voiced by David McCallum. It just would have felt right. But that is a very interesting piece of software to be able to run its own searches for specific information to answer a question being read to it. It'll be cool to see what this sort of technology can lead to.

30 years and even God will be replaced.
God was already replaced, by an animatronic hippopotamus after he was assassinated in 1969 by a Cuban revolutionary.

We're not sure why he was in Cuba to begin with, but nobody seems to have noticed the change in management so we pretty much just let it slide.

I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords.

Seriously though, this is pretty cool.

As a Computer Science major who has taken an A.I. course, this is beyond cool. Despite tonight's Final Jeopardy flop, what IBM has done is incredible. Watson is essentially the Deep Blue of our generation, and to see it perform as well as it has is astounding.

Ah, you sir made me chuckle.

And laughter is all we'll have after Watson's minion army grinds our puny human civilization into the ground.
