I'm 13. Is that a problem?

I'm a 13-year-old boy who likes video games. No Halo or MW2, but Mario and Zelda. But, according to some, we are a race of loud-mouthed-XBox-loving-curse-flinging-homo-phobia-ing(?) idiots with no taste. I'm a little tired of this segregation between the two age groups.
In a wider sense, 13-year-olds on the internet are a problem too. All our videos on youtube apparently suck and we should GTFO because we are a waste of space.
Why?

Blame the Mics, because they make almost everyone's voice sound girlish, or like a prepubescent child

and in a wider sense, most videos on youtube suck, and the a stereotype is that it was made by 13 year olds.

Because someone with an intelligence quotient above that of a rock in your age group is extremely hard to find. You apparently had better upbringing and a hell of a ton more intellect and maturity than 90% of the 13 year olds I used to deal with on a daily basis. I had the same problem myself growing up.

I smell a troll...

Of course it's a stereotype, but stereotypes exist because there are a degree of young teens that act in the manner you describe - is that so difficult to understand?

Just a stereotype of the age group.
We all know there are decent people, but they kinda go unnoticed due to the swarms of idiots. It always happens.

Because most 13 year olds on the internet go out of their way to piss everyone off.

Not all are like that, this I know, but it seems a lot are. 5 minutes on Halo 3 or Modern Warfare 2 will prove this.

Because a lot of people think that they've achieved something by surviving 20 years and that suddenly gives them some entitlement to look down upon everyone who hasn't done that yet. Oh yeah, and because the overwhelming majority of 13 year olds are too immature to mix it in an anonymous forum.

Edit:

See comments like that for evidence of my first point.

It's because the majority of 13 year old gamers tend to be how you describe them as. Or at least, those are the ones that you hear from. The quiet ones go about their business not alerting people to their presence. They are good, but because they go unnoticed, the more noticeable players tarnish the reputation of all of them.

Because most 13-year-olds are loud-mouthed-XBox-loving-curse-flinging-homo-phobia-ing idiots, sadly. Unfortunately when a certain group of people represent themselves as being obnoxious we tend to assume they are obnoxious. Most of them do often feel like an annoyance to older, more mature people.

On a lighter note, you do get older as time goes on so you won't be 13 forever!

I used to be like you, in fact, it was only four years ago. Back then I just minimized mic use on Xbox and was professional about everything. Got me a hell of a lot of respect, and it still does!

But yeah, youngsters on Xbox live get a bad rap, but seriously, there's a lot of bad ones out there. It's hard to find a Modern Warfare or Halo lobby without at least one kid with a wicked high-pitched voice screaming and playing music too loudly in the background.

Well, because a lot of 13-year-olds are quite immature whose favourite games are MW2 and Halo (not to say all people whose favourite games are MW2 and Halo are immature, because the two biggest fans of those games on this forum (JourneyThroughHell and Vrex360) happen to be quite cool guys) and will rarely play/watch something if it doesn't have enough Bay-splosions in it.

Don't worry, when people say "you're acting like a 13-year-old" they generally mean "you're acting like the stereotype generally applied to 13-year-olds" so don't take offence.

I never got that, mainly because when I started playing online (around when I was 11 or 12) I never told them I was that age. Of course if you go up to someone online and say "O hay man, I r 13 years old, i can beat you at dis game lolzors!" they will treat you like shit. I only told people about my age when they asked, and they always were surprised to see I was that young and somewhat mature. Hell, some people are still surprised to see me, a 14 year old on TF2 and CSS who can type properly and doesn't badmouth everyone.

So true, I'm post-pubescent and I still have to change my voice when I talk so I don't sound like a b***h.

If he was a troll he would have said Halo 3 the best game ever.

13 year olds are stereotyped as being rash and immature. It's actually kinda true. I'm not being mean or anything (I mean I was the same), but it's what I've observed.

I am 14 and I agree with the stereotype most of the under 20s I meet on the internet are basically everything you said you aren't.

Blame generalisation. It happens to everybody.

EDIT: I find it hilarious when gamers start an outcry whenever the media is targeting them because of some douches who decided to shoot each other up after playing a game yet they are happily doing the same.

Just sayin'
