I'm a 13-year-old boy who likes video games. No Halo or MW2, but Mario and Zelda. But, according to some, we are a race of loud-mouthed-XBox-loving-curse-flinging-homo-phobia-ing(?) idiots with no taste. I'm a little tired of this segregation between the two age groups.
In a wider sense, 13-year-olds on the internet are a problem too. All our videos on youtube apparently suck and we should GTFO because we are a waste of space.
Why?
Because someone with an intelligence quotient above that of a rock in your age group is extremely hard to find. You apparently had better upbringing and a hell of a ton more intellect and maturity than 90% of the 13 year olds I used to deal with on a daily basis. I had the same problem myself growing up.
Absolutely agreed. I myself was 15 when I started playing online but had no problem whatsoever with being told that I'm an arse. People actually thought I was 30-something. So it all depends, but as far as I know, most young little boys are not that scared of the mighty Internet pedobear (which actually doesn't exist but who cares - they should think otherwise)

Here here. I'm 15, and I'm still wrapped in the garments of those 13 year old fratboys by the interwebz. Apparently you don't change until you're not a minor, but hey, some people aren't mature enough to understand people grow more quickly than others, both physically and mentally, which effectively makes them just as judgemental and pathetic as the 13 year olds they despise so much.

there is a huge difference in the behavior of the two age groups, of coure we aren't going to like eachother all that much. Other than that, it prolly shouldn't be as bad as it is, but on xbox live, the squeaky voices of kids too young to be playing is actually painful when your wearing the headset. I say play if you want, I played M rated games at that age, but I really wish you wouldnt use mikes. As for youtube, you choose what you want to watch, so if you don't like it, it's your mistake, and your problem.

There are always exceptions, there are probably a lot of 13 yr olds on Xbox that are quiet. But unfortunately the loud mouths ruin it for everyone. It's easy for me to say that most are idiots going by the ones I've heard rather than the ones who just sit back and enjoy the game.

Doesn't that highlighted part answer your question?

It's just a pattern that the rest of your age group has created. As a result, you have to work a little harder to prove you aren't like that. it's just the way it is with all seeded stereotypes.

I'm getting a little tired of this question being asked by every single person in the world, who feels they are being stereotyped.

OT: ^look up^

Are you really 13 op?

I didn't even know what "segregation" was at that age. I was too busy setting fire to things and figuring out excuses as to why I hadn't shown up at school for a month.

Of course being 13 is a problem. You need to have been born in an earlier year to be a decent human being.

Yes, it's a catastrophic problem.

Seriously, no it isn't, unless you behave like the stereotype. I for one an 16, but I don't care about the negative image teenagers have in the media: we're not all like that by a long way, but plenty are. It's a justified stereotype, and not too far from the truth, particularly in certain areas. Likewise, 13 year olds have a bad rep on the internet because most of them are arseholes.

I think the trick is, if you try and act civil to people, and don't be a dick, then they'll like you. Some people will write squeakers off before they get a chance, but I have a few friends that I've made because I've given them a chance.

People like to label

Think of the headlines

"YOUTH MURDER OLD MEN"

"YOUTH CRIMINALS"

"YOUTH DELINQUENTS"

Replace "Youth" with "Black" and you see where the problem lies. It's discrimination based on being part of a large group

Shut up and go back to XBL, or play with legos or something.

Nop, it's not a problem.

High-five. There's a minority of mature-and I hate to use the word-tweens(igh) on the internet and in your multiplayer games that the majority is labeled with the sterotype. And rightfully so. Just because you have a video recorder and internet connection does not mean you should make videos out of your crappy ideas. Also, with the mic thing, I try to avoid using it because I bet I would sound like a total *****. PC gaming, however, allows me to type my messages, letting me communicate without the need for people to hear my voice in a mic.

That must mean the dinosaurs were gentlemen/women and cyanobacteria was the highest class of being.

Just you wait until you're 17 or so. You might find 13-year olds as annoying as other people find them now.

But seriously, it's a stereotype, and the only way to get rid of stereotypes is to prove them wrong consistently.

Yeah, I'm 14, but I was always a nice guy online. It's just that the majority of the people of our age group are a very angry alpha-male instinct driven populace.
