I'm desperate- any Mac games even somewhat worth playing?

Install Windows on the thing.
i did that to my mates ibook and it got the bsod every time he tries to run WMP
Then you(or he) did the Boot Camp install wrong. Read up on any and all Boot Camp installation guides. Just Google "Boot Camp for Macintosh Installation Guide" and they will do you no wrong. It is actually really easy and reliable. If you do it right you can have both the Windows and OSX OS on your MAC with no issues what so ever.

My first post on the Escapist (longtime lurker)
I'm playing Crysis pretty well on my new Macbook pro, via bootcamp and Xp SP3...
(get a far better frame rate than running Win 7 home, and can live without Dx10 shader support)

Just one thing I would recommend that you download SmcFan control first as when running windows your machine will get very hot and windows doesn't have the drivers to control the machines temperature effectively. (The fans will kick in but only when it gets "very" hot)
Just set the minimum fan speeds in Os X (I set to 6000 rpm) then reboot into windows, via startup disc and the fans will stay the same.

The fans are very loud at that speed, but no louder than my 360 or Ps3 (when the fans do kick in on my Ps3)

I feel for you, brother. But, in my adventuring around the world of PC games, I have a few Mac games in my collection- Most Blizzard games seem to be hybrids- Warcraft 3, Diablo II and Starcraft.

I suppose you could try bootcamp, but that seems to be... annoying to say the least (Or maybe my friend was just crap at working windows).

Mac is perfectly good for gaming, it just doesn't have that many games, but some of them have already been mentioned in this thread. I have Macs and a bootcamped Windows, myself.

EV Nova [http://www.ambrosiasw.com/games/evn/] is a pretty enjoyable 2D space action/rpg/trading game.

And really, as nice as the PS2 is, I wanna play something that's not japanese. I've played my CoD2 and God of War to death, and am just sick of Squeenix for the time being.
Psychonauts
Viewtiful Joe
Okami
Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction
Burnout 3
Resident Evil 4
The Ratchet and Clank games
The Jak and Daxter games (haven't played personally, but they're popular)
Tony Hawk's Underground 2 (only skating game worth owning EVAH)
Amplitude
Mercenaries
Katamari series
Sly Cooper series (have not played, but hear they're awesome)
Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex

If you need other suggestions, just ask.

EDIT: Also, felt like saving this thread. I don't like how a lot of the responses are rather dickish, and want to see you get some actual assistance.

The Journeyman Project is a pretty decent trilogy of adventure games that were originally designed for Mac and ported to Windows. There's even a Mac-exclusive remake/reimagining of the first game, called Pegasus Prime.
