Quite obvious from your anti Sony rant. Its hard to take you serious when you are so one sided on the issues here.
How is liking most of Sony's consoles clearly siding me against them? I liked their consoles. Now they just got back to what they do best: screw up royally. But hey, go on and deny the state of reality. Whatever helps you sleep at night.
Microsoft and Nintendo don't screw up at all? No one company is perfect here and they all share the blame. But, putting all the blame on Sony for there screw up and not bringing up the others.

I'm not denying anything. I sleep nice on a sleep number bed. Maybe you should try it once.

Here is a link and I'm sure there is a pricing plan to your liking.

Uhhhh... you're forsaking a console over TROPHIES?
Technical issues, sure. Lack of support over an issue, sure I can accept those.

But because there's issue with the trophies you're claiming it's ruined the experience for you?

I'd hate to see your reaction in scouts if someone lost your blanket with all the badges on it.

Okay that's a bit mean but seriously man they're just trophies.. but eh it's your life your decision.

*Walks in to thread*

Huh, the OT has absolutely no discussion value.

*Looks at a couple of pages of response*

A fairly consistent opinion of "Wait, what?" and "Sad"

*Ponders logic of making a thread where you have a problem with a console, and not putting the disclaimer of 'Just venting'*

Enjoy the wonders of PC gaming with making sure that the games you want can be run by the PC you currently have, and eventually forking over more money than a console when you do have to upgrade

*Walks away, whistling random songs*

Wow that's... pretty pathetic.

You got mad and sold you PS3 and all your games... because you couldn't see your trophies? Trophies that, may I add, are nothing but a small icon next to a pretty meaningless number that really serve absolutely no purpose?

Like the guy above me said, it's pretty damn hard to sympathize.
Nail on the head man, nail on the motherf**king head.

Seriously OP, this is pretty weak. All I can really say is that you got a dud. it happens all the time, in every industry.

Shit, you should have given all your games to me, I'd have gladly taken them off your hands.

A lot of people have already stated what I'm sure is everyone's first reaction: "cry me a fucking river!"

I've had very few issues with the console, but I feel the games more than make up for whatever minor hassle I may have endured, and it's by far my favorite gaming system of the current generation.

If you feel this petty issue was cause enough to sell your console, then I fear for your customer experience with other, more falible items.

Why is it that my trophies are broken on my PS3, and I don't give a flying shit?

You are a clear example of a self entitled gamer who's rattle fell out of the pram, and you want the whole world's attention about it, sorry but it's the truth. You're not getting any sympathy from me that's for sure.
Isn't this just the insult of the month? "Self entitled". He is entitled to have his trophies working. That's how this works. He bought a product from Sony expecting their advertised features and they did not work as they should. He IS entitled to have these features functional and present in his product.

I can't believe people who seem to claim when a companies product fails it's somehow the consumers fault for not just living with a dysfuncitonal product.

We're not talking about a graphics card or hard-drive failure. We're talking about something that is less than minor. Trophy synching failure doesn't mean that the console stops working, or crashes the games, or remotely stops doing what the console does best, which is playing games. It's like selling your car because the lighter doesn't pop out. It's a complete and utter over-reaction.

That said, it's his console, and it's his imperative what to do with it. But coming to the forums expecting high-fives or support over this debacle is something that should've been reconsidered.

Well, you're right that most people would deem it a minor issue. However, you can't speak with impunity on what should or shouldn't matter to the OP. If he's fed up with his console (and he's later explained that there were many other technical things going wrong with it) it absolutely makes sense to get rid of it.

I'm not sure WHY this thread was made, but I feel it was just venting frustration. I can't say that he expected high-fives and brofists all around (the OP later claimed he didn't make this thread for that reason); but it's still absurd to think that no one ever should be dissatisifed if something on their console doesn't work. Even if it's minor.

It does indeed boil down to personal preference. To most people, however, depriving yourself of an entire gaming system and its community for the reasons described does seem like a bit of a spoiled reaction. I fought through three broken 360's before deciding to give up on the system, and it took Steam locking me out of hundreds of Euro of legally-bought games to throw me off the PC. I suspect most people follow the same gidelines. So you will understand how this might be poorly received.

Maybe it's as you say, maybe it was simply venting steam. I know I've done that myself on these forums before. But with the recent popularity of Sony-bashing, often disguised in a "I love Sony, but..." banner, you never really know any more.

Sorry, but I fail to see a small issue of corrupted trophies as a huge enough issue to warrant selling a console, it's as simple as that. I've had the issue myself, and it hasn't been a problem for me, and I have Playfire even.

I believe what he did was unreasonable, hence the "self entitlement" line.

Let me make one thing clear to everyone. It's not the fact that my trophy syncing function was broken that made me want to sell the PS3 (I know it's pretty much what I said in the OP, but hear me out).

There are a number of other reasons why I sold it, such as how broken and buggy the system can be at times such as shutting off for no reason whatsoever, and the fact that when I contacted the customer service, they gave me a stupid reason for why it might be happening (they believed it might be my modem).

It's not because I couldn't sync the trophies that made me sell the PS3 and give up on Sony, it's because of how easy the system messed itself up that just simply made me say "I've had enough!" (that, and the fact that the day this happened, my guarantee expired on it). I understand that my reasons may sound pathetic, maybe even irrational, but that's just the way it is unfortunately.

And finally, the reason I have no regrets on why I sold the PS3 is because I already have Steam, which is far superior and far more reliable than any other platform I have played in the last 5 years or so. I know Steam isn't a console, but if it was, it would probably make owning a 360 or PS3 pointless and unnecessary.
Im sorry, I generally try not to be negative to people comments, as it goes no where, but your reasons are incredibly poor.

The "number of reasons" happens to every console, I had a friend who went through 7 xbox's because they were all "broken and buggy", yet I have not had to replace any of mine. In Fact, I have had less problems with my PS3 then my Xbox by FAR, so I find the generic "its broken and buggy more" to be a lack luster excuse.

At the end of the day, I personally think you just over reacted and made a hip fire decision, which is going to rob of you many good exclusives for the PS3, and frankly, many cross platform games which just look/play better on PS3.

Also, while Steam is great (I also make frequent use of steam), why limit yourself to one platform.

And I was about to tell you to go to the Valhalla of gaming with the Glorious PC Master Race, but I guess that won't be necessary.

Seriously though, you complain about some stupid trphies?, you wouldn't last a freakin' second with PC gaming, as much as I love it, everyone knows how much of a hassle it can be sometimes, games not working properly, optimizing your system so that your games runs as good as possible, DRM bullshit (sometimes), old games not working correctly in modern systems, Origin, GFWL...

And here we are complaining about some stupid trophies... petty.

My PS3 died and I had no idea why and sony sent me a 320gig slim for free, FREE! the next day. As of this I will never insult their customer service because it's the best I've even delt with.

This is ironic, since what drove me to buy my PS3 in the first place was Steam fucking up my account and randomly locking me out of my games with not a single explanation or justification, except a nicely written "because fuck you for asking, that's why".

The thread is about the PS3, so bringing up the faults of Microsoft and Nintendo are largely pointless. Unless someone at Nintendo hit the "make Sony suck" button, I hardly see why that would be needed. Are their reasons to let go of Nintendo and Microsoft? Sure, but they aren't the subject of this thread. In hind-sight, I shouldn't have even brought up Microsoft and Nintendo.
I don't personally agree and I think we can chalk it up to fair enough.
