I don't buy the whole "The game isn't different, you've just grown up". If that's the case, then I'm pretty sure that I would have absolutely hated Tales of Symphonia but since I see that game as being 99% flawless, I'd like to think of that argument as broken.

I have not played X. I might be buying it today since Gamestop decided to sell me a bunk copy of DQ8 that won't make it past the load screen. I've seen X, it looks inconceivably angsty and emo, but if the overall story is even 25% engaging (as opposed to XII's 10%) and the gameplay is decent, I won't complain.

FFX is piss easy. I enjoyed, but it's easy. If the Aeons don't break the game for you, "Quick Hit" will.

I suggest finding a working copy of DQ8, since you mentionned that. I'm not sure that there's a more charming game out there! And if you haven't played, Dragon Warrior (Quest) 7 on PS1 is MASSIVE. Definitely worth a purchase.
I called Gamestop and I am getting X tonight. My plan is to play through it, determine whether or not I like it and if not, trade it back to Gamestop for a copy of DQ8. I remember seeing ads in magazines for DQ7 many years ago, but I missed out on a lot of RPGs of that era because I spent all of my money on Magic: the Gathering, D&D, and grass.
